HOLLY Willoughby has suggested that women should always offer to  pay for the first date.

The popular TV presenter revealed her views on the topic during a discussion about love and dating on This Morning alongside her co-presenter Phillip Schofield, First Dates love guru Fred Sirieix and Sun agony aunt Deidre Sanders.

The stars offered advice to viewers that called into the show, starting with two questions from former TOWIE star Ferne McCann.

Ferne had asked the panel for their thoughts on who should pay for the first date, to which Fred responded: "It's 2016, you don't need to be worried about it. Whether the woman pays, the man pays or you go dutch - it doesn't matter. You need to talk about it and decide on the day."

While Deidre admitted that most women did still like for the man to pay on the first date - even if the woman might decide to pay for every other outing.

Holly added her thoughts to the conversation as she stated: "I think you should offer, just in case?";

As Deidre added: "But you do hope that they will insist to pay despite your offer."

Meanwhile, Holly was less than impressed when a viewer called in to admit that he was struggling to pick between two women he was dating.

Keegan didn't necessarily get the reaction he might have hoped for as Holly quipped: "It's unfair. Well if you are blonde and dating someone called Keegan, look out!"

A shocked looking Phil jokingly added: "How could you do that to him?"
