11 funniest Coronation Street scenes from Deirdre chucking a trifle across the room to Steve and Leanne’s bizarre engagement
We take a look back at 11 of the funniest scenes over the years
OVER the years Coronation Street has rarely failed to deliver on the laughs front.
Here's a list of our fave funny moments, from Deirdre's tantrum with the trifle to Eileen and Gail's epic scrap on the street.
Deirdre throwing the trifle
It turned out to be late actress Anne Kirkbride's final scene on Corrie, and it ended up being one of her most memorable.
During a Barlow family meal, tension was high as Peter awaited trial for Tina McIntyre's murder.
It all got a bit much for Deirdre - and she was tipped over the edge when she discovered her trifle hadn't set.
In a fit of pique she launched it at the wall before delivering one of her all-time classic lines: "Jelly shouldn't run, it should wobble!"
Les and Cilla in the Jacuzzi
When Les Battersby and his wife Cilla decided to take a romantic bath in their Hawaiian-themed Jacuzzi in November 2004, their soapy soiree went a bit pear-shaped when faithful pooch Schmichael got involved.
Smelling their pizza, the Great Dane leapt into the tub with them, sending the trio - and the Jacuzzi - crashing through the floor into the lounge below. Classic.
Bet and Betty stuck in a lake
Back in May 1983, Rovers potman Fred Gee was desperate to try to woo barmaid Bet Lynch and organised an afternoon out with a picnic lunch.
But not keen on the idea of 'alone time' with Fred, Bet invited pal and colleague Betty Turpin out with them.
The trio trundled off to Tatton Park in Fred's Rover 2000 motor car - the one which had once belonged to Rovers landlady Annie Walker.
Sadly, Fred's attempt at romance was a damp squib - as the car ended up rolling into a lake, with Bet and Betty inside it!
To make matters worse, when Bet finally made it back to dry land, she got another moist surprise as poor old "Fred Face" accidentally dumped her down in a cow pat!
Eileen and Gail: FIGHT!
Eileen Grimshaw and Gail Platt have never seen eye to eye - and one of the best Corrie moments of all time was their squabble on the cobbles.
After finding out daughter Sarah Lou's boyfriend - and Eileen's son - Todd was gay and having an affair with Karl Foster in 2004, fuming Gail tore round to Number 11.
Despite being slapped and told to go home, Gail flung herself at Eileen and the women ended up in a hilarious brawl on the street.
Steve and Leanne get engaged over a kebab
Viewers were left in hysterics after Leanne Battersby drunkenly accepted Steve McDonald's marriage proposal.
The bizarre proposal and equally bizarre acceptance appeared to indicate unlucky-in-love cabbie Steve will finally get to tie the knot with Leanne - who was set to be his fifth wife.
Despite hooking up as a one night stand - from which she became pregnant - fans' favourite Steve took another stab at romance on Friday's episode.
Popping the question to a stunned Leanne while sat on the sofa, he was left waiting as she stormed out for a drink with sister Eva Price.
But she returned home drunk to Steve with two doner kebabs and finally gave him the answer he had been hoping for.
Reg and waterbed-gate
In 1993 Maureen Naylor and Reg Holdsworth were reunited, having been teenage sweethearts when they were younger.
Despite Maud Grimes's best efforts to sabotage their relationship, the pair began courting again and prepared to consummate their love in Reg's waterbed.
Sadly for them, Derek Wilton chose that precise moment to drill through the ceiling below and straight into the mattress, flooding the flat and humiliating Maureen.
Gail Platt's singing
From Katy Perry to The Nolans, Gail's musical repertoire is nothing if not impressive.
Shame her voice leaves A LOT to be desired... Prepare to cringe.
Amy Barlow reveals her Sixth Sense
Cheeky Amy is taking after her mum Tracy more and more every day.
In this scene with Faye Windass in December 2014, she revealed her 'Sixth Sense', telling her pal: "I see dead people."
The revelation was all a ruse - encouraged by Tracy - to wind up Norris Cole, though it backfired as Faye's mum Jenny Butler had previously died of a suspected heroin overdose.
Jack and Vera's 'blind date'
Back in 1983, Jack Duckworth signed up for a dating agency for a bit of sly fun, going by the name of Vince St Clair.
Unfortunately for him, Vera's mate Bet had seen his video and encouraged Vera to sign up for the agency, too, as widower Carole Munroe.
Vera then chose 'Vince' and when she turned up to meet him for a date, pure telly gold ensued.
Shocked Jack exclaimed: "You're no flamin' widow!" to which Vera replied: "No! But I will be 10 minutes after I get you home" while smacking him with her handbag.
Les and Kirk 'go gay'
Les Battersby was your typical right wing, homophobic yob - that is, until he 'went gay' in 2002.
Following the breakdown of his marriage to Janice, he took in Kirk Sutherland as his lodger.
But when his tenancy came into question, the pair were forced to pretend they were gay to keep the lease.
To support their story when an inspector came to check, they filled the house with Judy Garland and Liberace memorabilia.
Blanche visits an AA meeting
Blanche was never one to mince her words, and this trip to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting to 'support' grandson Peter Barlow was one of her finest hours.
As a member of the group - Ross - came to the end of his sorry tale about his battle with drink, Blanche bluntly asked: "Are you quite finished?" before launching into one of her epic rants.
