REBEKAH Vardy has been blasted for telling "deliberate lies" on the final day of the explosive Wagatha Christie showdown - as the Rooneys skipped the hearing to jet off on holiday.

Coleen and Wayne are missing today's summing up after taking their four sons away for a sunshine break.

It was explained that the couple had a "long-standing travel arrangement" which was booked when it was thought the trial would finish on Wednesday.

Rebekah also left the courtroom for an extended break today after arriving this morning without husband Jamie.

It comes as Coleen's lawyer claims she and agent Caroline Watt are the "only possible suspects" for leaks about the Rooneys - and the pair "deliberately" destroyed evidence.

But Rebekah's barrister has hit back this afternoon, claiming it's "highly implausible" that his client is "clever or cynical enough" to get rid of crucial messages ahead of the trial.

This morning, David Sherborne, for Coleen, said the Wag believes Rebekah is responsible "even more now" than she did when she made the accusation.

He reminded the court that there has been no evidence from Miss Watt, who dropped her phone in the North Sea days after being ordered to hand it over to the court.

A "substantial" amount of evidence from Miss Watt and Rebekah was also lost when chats were accidentally deleted, it was heard.

"It was done to cover up incriminating evidence," Mr Sherborne alleged this morning.

"The only plausible explanation is manual deletion by the claimant herself."

He blasted mum-of-five Becky as an "entirely unreliable witness" whose memory was "selective" - and said Coleen had been "honest".

"[Rebekah's] evidence should be treated with the utmost caution. It's accuracy simply cannot be trusted," he said.

"The contrast in the way Mrs Rooney gave evidence could not have been clearer."

He said the case was "extraordinary" because of the absence of Miss Watt, calling her Becky's "close friend, agent, conduit - Hamlet without the Prince of Denmark."

The court has previously heard Miss Watt is "unfit" to take the stand.

Rebekah was subject to hostile and aggressive cross-examination... she found it stressful

Hugh Tomlinson, Becky's lawyer

But Hugh Tomlinson, for Rebekah, dismissed the argument as nothing more than the figment of "powerful imaginations" - and said allegations she was at the heart of an "incredible" plot are simply a "conspiracy theory".

He blasted Mr Sherborne's questions, telling the judge Rebekah was "subject to lengthy, hostile and aggressive cross-examination which she found difficult and stressful at times".

And said said there's no chance Becky is simply a "wicked litigant" - adding: "It is a conspiracy theory that has been dreamed up by Mr Sherborne and his team but one which is wholly implausible."

But he said Rebekah admits Miss Watt may have been "the source" of the leaks - and she "obviously made mistakes" trusting the agent.

"Mrs Vardy certainly doesn't want to be in court. All she wants is to be vindicated as not being the person who leaked this private information," he said.

He accused Coleen of "immediately drafting" her "dramatic public shaming" after a report emerged based on her fake story about a flood in the basement of her £30m mansion.

She did so knowing Rebekah was seven months pregnant, and without giving her the opportunity to respond, he added.

Mr Tomlinson said: "There was no urgency whatsoever. Mrs Rooney could have blocked Mrs Vardy and made contact with Mrs Vardy to ask for her views, or she could have waited until after Mrs Vardy had given birth.

'REBEKAH IS UNRELIABLE'

"She did neither and failed to give any proper or reasonable consideration to the possibility that the activity could be happening from Mrs Vardy's account without Mrs Vardy's knowledge."

Her decision to accuse Rebekah led to "horrific abuse" from trolls, he added.

Coleen, Rebekah and Wayne have given evidence during the trial, which has gripped the nation.

However, Jamie has not, despite making a public statement denying allegations made by Wayne.

Wayne claimed he had an "awkward" chat with Jamie while at Euro 2016 when he asked his teammate to “calm down” his wife Rebekah at the request of England manager Roy Hodgson.

He said he was asked to speak to Jamie amid concerns his wife was becoming a distraction.

But Jamie then branded the allegations "nonsense" and says he was never told to ask Becky to "calm down".

Mr Sherborne took a pop at Jamie as he summed up this morning, telling the judge: "Of course it is not lost on the court that he was willing to give a press statement while not under oath, he was unwilling to give one for these proceedings."

Wagatha Christie headlines from this week:

But Mr Tomlinson defended the ace's decision not to speak in court -  because he wouldn't have been able to give "any relevant evidence at all".

He claimed WhatApp messages showed that Rebekah had asked her husband if Rooney had spoken to him about her behaviour - and he had replied that he had not.

The judge will reserve her ruling until a later date.

Rebekah is suing Coleen after the Wag publicly accused her of selling stories to newspapers in a bombshell Instagram post.

The court heard Rebekah had branded her rival a ";nasty b***h" and a "c***" in texts to Miss Watt after learning Coleen had accused her of leaking stories.

Coleen also admitted she and Wayne fought for their marriage after "quite a few scandals". The couple briefly split after he was caught drink-driving with a party girl, she said.

Meanwhile, Becky wept three times giving evidence as she told of the impact Coleen's allegations have had.

It's now been revealed that, win or lose, the Vardys are planning to leave the UK altogether and move to the US.

And it's reported that Wayne branded Jamie a "bottler", claiming the Leicester City striker chickened out of giving evidence himself in court.
