Now twelve years on, Harry Styles is arguably the biggest star on the planet.
His heavily hyped third album, his first since 2019's Fine Line, was always going to be a commercial success.
Harry has amassed a fan base so loyal hell would have to freeze over before they allowed Harry's House to flop.
But over the course of 13 tracks, the former ONE DIRECTION singer has proved he is also musically head and shoulders above his peers.
Undeniably influenced by 70s and 80s synth hooks, the album is packed with infectious melodies and beats.

By now just about everyone on the planet has heard lead single As It was.
The track, which is still sitting comfortably atop charts around the world, racked up 16.1 million streams in its first 24 hours - breaking Spotify's streaming record.

But at an exclusive playback in London, it became clear that several of the album's offerings could have served as lead single.
Lyrically, Harry's House is his most intimate and thought provoking yet.
At times it appears to almost serve as a musical diary rather than simply singing generic overused one liners about meeting a girl in a club and taking her home.
After the success of his first two records it would have been easy for Harry to have fallen into the trap of following the same formula and keeping things safe.
But musically Harry's House builds on his previous releases - gambling with experimental sounds that when combined create an undeniable “Harry” sound.
As a result he's cemented himself as not only music's biggest star but one of its most artistically talented as well.
