‘I’M QUITE EMOTIONAL’: Strictly Come Dancing’s Daisy Lowe pays tribute to her late Granddad ahead of her first dance
The model cried as she came off the dance floor after dedicating her waltz to him
STRICTLY Come Dancing contestant Daisy Lowe dedicated her first live dance to her late granddad who passed away on the first day of her rehearsals.
In a clip shown before she danced with professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec, the model said it was with a heavy heart that she was taking to the floor.
Speaking about her beloved grandfather Eddie Davis, Daisy said: "I thought he was going to be here but he passed away on my first day so I’m actually quite emotional."
But she praised her partner for being there for her through the difficult time and added: "But Aljaz has been there for me. Been warm and supportive, the perfect partner."
She said she hoped wherever he was, her Granddad was watching, and added: "As long as I’ve danced my best and know I’ve made gramps proud somewhere that’s all that really matters to me."
She and Aljaz then took to the floor and danced the waltz to Nat King Cole's Unforgettable - for which they were awarded 32 points from the judges.
Breaking down in tears, Daisy said: "Thank you I love you."
Judge Craig Revel Horwood told had a mixed verdict as he told them: "I found it a bit sickly sweet, over the top. You danced it beautifully."
But Darcy said, "You instantly set the romantic feel to the atmosphere, it sent shivers down my back," as Bruno Tonioli added: "You are dazzling, had the radiant quality of old school glamour. You made it look very easy."
And Len Goodman, who awarded the couple a 9 out of 10, said: "I was looking for a daisy and I found an English rose. I don’t think I’ve seen a dance better than that for week one, ever."
