Michelle has thanked her children Faith, 10, and AJ, eight for 'forgiving her' during her battle with alcoholism.

In an emotional interview, Michelle told magazine: "I'd given up on life."

The 42-year-old said: "At my lowest point, I’d wake up in the morning and pray for someone to help me or I just wanted to die.”

“I’d given upon my life and I didn’t care about losing my family or friends, it was only about where the next drink was coming from. My skin was grey, I was exhausted and my body was completely unrecognisable and bloated.”

“Rehab saved my life – after my medical examination there, they told me I’d have been dead within days if I hadn’t got help. "

Michelle admitted that her worst memories of her addiction were lying to her husband Hugh Hanley and children.

As the star celebrated looking fantastic in superhero costumes with her brood, she said on Instagram: "Super hero’s don’t need to wear capes …

"Well, that’s what I told the kids this morning when considering who would wear the red one . ❤️

She added: "Anyway.. I asked the kids who is their superhero today.. and they named me 😁 as their super hero (with heavy persuasion from daddy after making a fuss over me turning 1 year sober)

For me, My super hero’s are these kids!

Their love and forgiveness, kindness and cuddles are what keeps me strong!"

The star said her doting husband has “forgiven” her.

She jetted off to Mexico with her personal trainer instructor husband and their two children earlier this month to celebrate her milestone.

Speaking to Closer magazine, Michelle said: “I’m completely honest with Hugh now and he feels like he’s got his wife back.

“He’s forgiven me and we’re best friends again… as well as best friends in the bedroom!” she teased.

The mum checked into The Priory rehab clinic in May last year after celebrity friends including Katie Price staged an intervention and paid for her to get treatment for her five-year drinking problem.

Michelle's drinking got considerably worse in lockdown 2020, and her issues spiralled out of control.

Four days before she entered rehab facility the Priory, Michelle was scarily close to death.

Michelle had been drinking excessively for a few years, but in 2019 and going into 2020, things were out of control.

At her worst, she was downing two bottles of wine and a bottle of vodka a day, before checking into rehab.

She told The Sun earlier this year: “I was going to die if I didn’t get help. I knew we could never afford this again because it was very expensive, We had to borrow the money, which we’re still paying back.”

She bravely shared a photo of her “grey and swollen” face from the day she checked into rehab — together with one of her “healthy and happy” as she celebrated eight months being sober.
