Big sis Shirley tries to cheer Tina up with a cheap bottle of Voddy

It’s not your traditional approach to day care, but Tina couldn’t be more grateful when big sis Shirley arrives on her doorstep with a bottle of cheap vodka and an offer – for her and mum Sylvie to come and live Chez Shirl.
“Tina’s really struggling,” says Luisa Bradshaw-White, who plays her. “She was really finding it difficult when Sonia was doing it all and Tina wasn’t doing anything.”
The thought of the three Carter women under one roof is more potent than any gut-rotting booze, but Tina is eternally grateful, particularly as she thought her sister was devoting all her time to Phil.
“It’s sweet that Tina is so grateful for Shirley helping in some way,” says Luisa.
“But I know it’s going to end up being a complete and utter disaster. You couldn’t put the three of them together and it work.”
It’s not just Tina who’s set to benefit from this move.
With Stacey and Martin looking for a new home, Tina suggests they take over the lease at Sonia’s. However, after finding the money for the fees, the pair learn the house has already been taken.
So who’s swooped in? Only Carmel. Martin is understandably furious and lets rip at the market inspector, but that doesn’t solve the problem of where his family are going to live.
DOT’S DISTRESS
These are extremely testing times for Dot Branning. First she had to have a word with herself (and God) about Colin’s wedding ceremony – and well done, Dot, for doing the right thing.
Now a disturbing phone call at the launderette from her employers presents her with a new problem.
It’s at times like this that you wish her dear Arthur, aka Fatboy, was still around to hold her hand (instead of being crushed to death thanks to Vincent and Ronnie).
Of course, no one has ever seen the body, so if Arthur is really DJing in some Austrian ski resort, now would be a very good time for him to make an appearance.
PAM TO FACE PAUL'S KILLERS
Pam has made her peace with Ben, let Les back in through Christine and even said a proper goodbye to her beloved Paul. But one thing she won’t let go of is making Paul’s killers confess to their evil deed.
She was shocked last week when they pleaded not guilty and horrified when she realised she’d been comforting ringleader Simon’s mother.
Now she wants to speak to his murderers face to face, and nothing Les or Ben says can stop her – despite promising Les she’ll back off. Once she gets the information she needs, Pam goes to see the police. But when she’s told there’s nothing they can do, it’s Honey who has a bright idea…
