George Michael talks about his own death in haunting never-before-seen scenes from Freedom Uncut film
ADELE has made no secret of how much she adored George Michael.
And it turns out the legendary singer, who passed away in December 2016, was also a huge fan of hers.
In an unearthed interview with David Austin, George’s close pal and the director of new film Freedom Uncut, he details the adoration George had for the Tottenham-born superstar.
When asked who his mate would have loved to perform with, David said: “I think probably Adele.
“He loved Adele, actually. He would sing along with Adele.
“I wouldn’t say ‘practise’ but, you know — to warm up along to her.”

David revealed how George hid away much of the home footage used in the feature-length documentary.
Speaking about finding shots to use in the film, David said: “I was a bit apprehensive to start with.
“I was going through a cupboard one day and I found this little drinks bag — this Harrods cooler bag.
“I opened it up and it had all of his home footage he’d lost, that he shot himself.”

When the film is released on June 22, audiences will witness never-before-seen moments featuring George.
In one haunting scene, the star talks about death and his own musical legacy.
There is also footage of the former Wham! singer smoking a joint while on holiday in Rio de Janeiro.
The documentary features Adele, who dressed up as George for a fancy dress bash in 2018.
In the film she is heard singing George’s 1990 track Fastlove.
Chris Martin of Coldplay makes an appearance too, singing a version of A Different Corner, from George’s 2006 album Twenty Five.
Viewers will also be treated to footage of George as a child.
David added: “I’ve actually got these recordings because we had this reel-to-reel my mother and father had — you know, those reel-to-reel [tape] recorders — and from a very young age my mother taught me how to use it.
“So I used to record everything. Eventually I got a guitar at six and George was a drummer.
“That’s what he started out doing and he sort of played on the pillows and I played the guitar.
“I’ve got these recordings and, believe it or not, the first song we wrote was called The Music Maker Of The World. True story.”
As a huge fan of George, I can’t wait to see the film — and take a trip down memory lane with his outstanding back-catalogue.
Cat been at your dress, Doja?
DOJA CAT got through no fewer than five outfit changes while playing Coachella.
But judging by this sparkly blue number, the American rapper barely had enough material to get by.
Kiss Me More star Doja worked her way through the high-energy set on Sunday, which included a number of unreleased songs.
I told earlier this month how she has been snapped up by bosses to appear on the soundtrack for the upcoming Elvis Presley biopic.
Her track Vegas samples his classic Hound Dog.
The album also features US rapper Swae Lee.
Fairy nice, Katy
KATY PERRY channels her inner Tinker Bell for her latest outing on American Idol.
The Harleys In Hawaii singer donned this fetching lime green number as she posed, hand on hip, backstage.
Though Katy has been coy about her summer plans, I can reveal she is just weeks away from kicking off a new era.
A source said: “Katy has been flat out. Not only is she back on American Idol and doing her Vegas show but she’s constantly been in the studio recording.
“Her sixth album is almost ready to go and the lead single has wowed label bosses. It’s very much a return to her dance-pop, Teenage Dream days. The plan is for the lead single to be out by the end of next month.”
Daisies, her most recent release, struggled to make an impact in May 2020.
Where We Started, a recent collaboration with country singer Thomas Rhett, is yet to chart over here.
She once churned out pop smashes like clockwork, so I hope the new album is a return to form.
Sam: I'm beating my demons
AS one of the most accomplished British singers of the past decade you’d think Sam Smith would have been riding high.
But the pop star says that despite the success, they struggled with self-confidence.
Sam, who uses the pronoun they, says for the longest time they struggled to look in the mirror and battled inner demons.
On new single Love Me More, out Thursday, Sam sings: “Have you ever felt like being somebody else, feeling like the mirror is not good for your health. Every day I’m trying not to hate myself, but lately it’s not hurting like it did before.”
The star added of the track: “I wrote it for anyone who felt different. Anyone who has to stop themselves from saying unkind things to themselves.
“I have felt like that for the longest time and slowly I am learning just how to be nice to myself.”
I told earlier this month how the track’s accompanying music video was secretly shot in Oval, South London, and now I can reveal that Sam is already planning a world tour to support his fourth album.
An insider said: “Sam has worked so hard on the record and is really proud of it.
“Those who have heard it say it’s their best work in years. A tour is already being pencilled in for 2023 with shows across the UK and North America.”
A story of Ritchie to rag trade
GUY RITCHIE is branching out into fashion, with his own line of clothing.
The gangster flicks director has trademarked Sun Lore – the name of one of his brewery’s English pale ales – for his togs.
Paperwork filed this week revealed how the certification covers everything from T-shirts and dresses to jumpers and coats – so he has gone from 1998 movie Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels to Frock, Smock And . . . a smokin’ new business adventure.
The logo associated with Guy’s ale will be imprinted on the clobber.
Guy first moved into the booze trade in 2008 while still married to Madonna, when the pair bought The Punchbowl pub in London’s Mayfair.
He sold it in 2013 but five years later invested with friend David Beckham in another pub in the capital, the Walmer Castle in Notting Hill Gate.
That year, busy Guy also created the Gritchie Brewing Company on his farm in Dorset where he started making his own ales.
And 12 months later, he bought yet another London pub, Lore Of The Land in posh Fitzrovia.
It was ravaged by fire last year but Guy praised 999 crew for bringing the flames under control.
It opened again in November and has been doing a great trade ever since.
If Guy knows his clothes as well as his beers, I’ve no doubt his range will go down a storm.
Reunion gig
INDIE rockers Hard-Fi will play their first live show since 2014 later this year.
The Surrey band are reuniting for a one-off show on October 1 at the O2 Forum Kentish Town, North London.
The reunion gig comes 11 years after their last album.
I told earlier this month how the group, whose hits include Hard To Beat and Cash Machine, have spent several months locked in the studio working on new music.
Those tracks could form the basis of a fourth studio album for frontman Richard Archer and Co.
Tickets go on sale on Friday at 10am.
Radio 1’s Big Weekend,
HARRY Styles will headline the Sunday night at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, from May 27-29.
In contrast to his briefer celeb-packed appearances at California’s Coachella festival Harry will play a full set next month at the slightly less glamorous War Memorial Park in Coventry.

The show will come days after the release of his third album, Harry’s House.
Lead single As It Was topped the charts around the world when it was released at the start of the month.
