BBC ‘planning new show to rival Great British Bake Off with Mary Berry, Mel Geidroyc and Sue Perkins’

Three of the popular show's Fab Four are sticking with the BBC out of loyalty as Paul Hollywood takes mega-bucks deal at C4

BBC bosses are reportedly cooking up a brand new baking show with Mary Berry, Sue Perkins and Mel Geidroyc.

After the three Great British Bake Off stars have sensationally snubbed the shows £75 million move to Channel 4, a BBC insider has revealed their high hopes.

Talking to , the inside source said: “We’ve got three of the fab four staying with us. We’re thrilled.

“The chances of us reuniting Mary, Mel and Sue are very high.”

The news comes after Mary announced on Thursday that she’s staying "loyal" to the BBC  after Mel and Sue immediately opted out of the move.

Paul Hollywood became the only star of the top rated show to sign up for a new series on Thursday – with The Sun revealing he’s received a bumper payday to appear on another three series.

He said: “The seven series inside the tent have created some great ­memories.

“Best of all, I have felt so pleased to experience other people getting the baking bug, just as I did when my dad helped me make my first loaf.

“Bake Off has brought baking to the nation and we’ve seen people from all walks of life and ­backgrounds ­experience the highs and lows of competition and, more ­importantly, helping each other.

"It’s been a huge part of my life and I just couldn’t turn my back on all that.

“So I am delighted I will be continuing as a judge when Bake Off moves to Channel 4.”

A statement from Mary posted an hour before Paul's couldn’t have been more opposite.

The 81-year-old said: “The Bake Off family, Paul, Mel and Sue have given me so much joy and laughter.

"My decision to stay with the BBC is out of loyalty to them, as they have nurtured me and the show that was a unique and brilliant format from day one.

“I am just sad for the audience who may not be ready for change, I hope they understand my decision.”
