CORONATION Street’s Beverley Callard says she “couldn’t bear to look in the mirror” as she sunk to the lowest in her depression.

The soap star, who has battled with the condition for many years, had it under control until the company that made her medication stopped producing it.

Speaking today on This Morning, she told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that at first she was ok, but after nine weeks without the drug, she began to get depressed.

She said: “I couldn’t bear to look in the mirror.

“I couldn’t take anymore.”

She added: “You feel everything you have to say is worthless anyway”

She said she contemplated taking her own life: “I was completely suicidal, I couldn’t leave the house, I could barely get out of bed.”

But she added, YOU can get well again: “The point I must stress is you do get better

“As long as you get the right help, be it medication or counselling.”

Asked by Phil how she felt now she said: “I’m very good now.

“I’ve tried four different medications, but I have finally found the right one.”
