Lawsuit accuses Jim Carrey of supplying illegally obtained drugs to late girlfriend Cathriona White
JIM Carrey has been accused of illegally obtaining prescription drugs for his late girlfriend, Cathriona White, who committed suicide last September.
A new lawsuit has been filed by Cathriona’s husband Mark Burton on the grounds of wrongful death and violation of the drug dealer liability act.
It claims the actor gave her the drugs "despite the fact that he knew full well that Ms. White was ill equipped to ingest and manage highly addictive prescription drugs outside the care of a licensed physician; was prone to depression; and had previously attempted to take her own life.”
The new claims were made public by , who have obtained court documents for the pending case.
It is alleged that Jim, under the aslias Arthur King, illegally obtained and then distributed Ambien, Popranolol and Percocet to Cathriona.
The pills were discovered in Cathriona’s apartment along with her lifeless body.
Michael Avenatti, the attorney for Mark, who was separated from Cathriona at the time of her death, told the American site: "We will be calling on the Los Angeles DA to open an investigation into Mr Carrey's role in the death of Ms. White.
"We look forward to the evidence and facts supporting the allegations in the case coming to light."
Following Cathriona’s death last year, a statement from Jim read: “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona.
"She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled.
“My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her.
“We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."
