Beyonce fans left furious as she loses out to Grease Live at Emmy Awards

The singer was up for her visual album Lemonade

BEYONCE fans were left disappointed on Sunday evening as their queen failed to pick up any awards at the Emmy’s.

The singer – who did not attend – was up for Outstanding Variety Special and Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special for her visual album Lemonade.

And when she missed out on the latter to Grease Live the internet reacted with a flurry of angry tweets – mainly aimed at the show’s directors Thomas Kail and Alex Rudzinski.

Even the show’s host Jimmy Kimmel made a quip about them beating her – remarking: “I wouldn't want to be those guys when Kanye finds out they beat Beyoncé.”

Kanye West famously stormed the stage when Beyonce lost out to Taylor Swift at the VMA’s back in 2009.

Responding to her loss fans took to social media in their droves to blast Grease Live.

One Twitter user wrote: “Beyoncé & Kahlil deserved that Emmy for directing #LEMONADE. it was flawless, meticulous, innovative. Grease Live was basic af #Emmys.”

Others were less polite about it- with one person writing: “As if I needed another reason to dislike the musical Grease... HOW DARE YOU BEAT BEYONCE #Emmys.”

Some couldn’t quite believe it – some tweeted: “DID BEYONCE JUST LOSE TO GREASE LIVE?!?! #EMMYS”

Another added: “Really .......Grease Live Won Over Beyonce ???????????? Good Night Emmys ‼️‼️‼️‼️”

A brave few did however try to defend the call – with one person writing: “Hey ppl Beyonce does not have to win all the awards... Grease Live was way better than Lemonade. There I said it! Deal with it! #Emmys.”

While another tweeted: “Lemonade lost to Grease Live, technically Carly Rae Jepsen beat Beyoncé at the Emmys. Such a queen. ✨”

Grease Live was a live adaptation of the 1971 film – starring Julianne Hough, Aaron Tveit, Vanessa Hudgens and Carlos PenaVega.

Carly Rae Jepson took on the role of Frenchy in the highly-praised musical.
