He was whisked straight into intensive care and placed on a ventilator.

Thankfully, Lucy and her fiancé Ryan Thomas were able to take Roman home a week later, but the tot has been having regular check-ups since.

On Friday, Ryan took Roman to his latest appointment and received a shock diagnosis that has left Lucy with "mixed feelings".

It was discovered that fluid has been entering Roman's lungs whenever he drinks.

Taking to Instagram, former Towie star Lucy explained that specialists had reached this diagnosis after carrying out a 'videofluoroscopy' - a moving X-ray that can be taken as a patient consumes fluid.

Lucy said: "It was to check that there wasn't any fluid when he drinks going down the wrong way and into his lungs.

"I honestly thought that it wasn't going to show that, so I kept my day's work in and he went with Ryan.

"I like to be at all the appointments but Ryan rang me and said it was showing there is fluid going into his lungs."

Fighting back tears, she continued: "I feel really weird about it because...I'm sad for Roman.

"Now, from Monday, when we pick up the thickener, he can't have any thin fluids for quite a long time - potentially years.

"So no lollies and ice-creams, no water or juice. Everything has to be a really thick consitency to stop it entering his lungs.

"But we have an answer. Maybe it's not the full picture, I don't know yet because we've not seen his consultant, but it's something."

Lucy concluded: "It's a step forward and is something we can deal with and is something that will hopefully stop him getting so sick. It's a positive in a way, because we've got a little bit closer to the answer."

The brave mum, who is expecting another baby with Ryan, then cuddled up to Roman has he happily ate spaghetti shapes and toast in his highchair.

He then squealed with joy as she told him he would shortly be going to his baby football class.
