EASY DOES IT: A heavily pregnant Maria Fowler supports her bump with crutches as she shops for supplies just days before baby is due
The reality TV star is suffering from SPD and is under doctor's orders to use crutches until the birth
MARIA Fowler supported herself with crutches as she and fiancé Kelvin Batey shopped for supplies days before their first child is due.
The heavily pregnant reality TV star and her BMX racer man were snapped at their local Sainsbury’s stocking up on essentials as she prepares to give birth to their daughter.
And while she is so big that she is ready to pop, it wasn’t her bump that needed the extra support.
Maria, 29, has been diagnosed with SPD – Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction – a condition that causes pain in the pelvic region and is very common in pregnancy.
And the former TOWIE star told the Sun Online that she is under doctor’s orders to use crutches to walk about, although she should be resting as much as possible.
She said: “I’ve got SPD, it’s a problem with my pelvis. I went to physio this morning and have to rest now and use crutches until the baby comes.
“It’s the most painful thing ever. It’s the relaxin your body produces when you’re pregnant that causes a problem with the pelvis.”
And she joked: “And I have to have it!”
But she said the condition will go as soon as they baby is born and added: “She’s due within days so there’s not a lot they can do at this stage apart from give me crutches.”
Maria and Kelvin announced they were expecting their first child on Mother’s Day and then shortly after revealed they are expecting a little girl who will be arriving any day now.
And while they are both very excited to meet their daughter, Maria has shared her concerns about the pending birth.
She is scared the baby may not be in the right position which could lead to an emergency Caesarean section.
She shared her fears with fans in a post on Twitter, writing: “So yesterday I was in so much pain think baby was turning, but now I can’t figure out if she’s still breech or not… just want a normal birth.”
