BACK FROM THE DEAD! Toadie’s late wife Dee is returning to Ramsay Street… 13 years after he drove her off a cliff
Fans thought they’d seen the last of the love of his life but her body was never found
NEIGHBOURS fans will be left stunned after it was announced that Toadie Rebecchi's dead wife Dione ‘Dee’ Bliss is making a return to Ramsay Street.
Actress Madeleine West is set to reprise her role as his long lost love 13 years after he accidentally drove her off a cliff on their wedding day.
Toadie, played by Ryan Moloney, survived the fall and Dee was presumed dead but her body was never found, leaving the part open for the character to return.
And more than a decade later, the mystery of what happened to the beautiful blonde is about to be revealed.
Speaking to news.com.au, West, 36, said: “Neighbours has become like part of our Australian heritage.
“I’ve always found it lovely when someone from the audience approaches me and feel like they knows me through Dee.
“That’s when you know you’ve done your job in breathing life into a character that allowed people to suspend their disbelief for half an hour a day, five days a week.”
On her return, she added: “It is a very rare and wonderful thing when an actor has the opportunity to step back into the shoes of a character they created, even more so when that character had not been seen for some 13 years, and was one as beloved as Dee Bliss.
“For me, this return to Neighbours is something of a homecoming, to the place where I took my first tentative steps into the entertainment industry, and where I truly learnt my craft.”
In 2003, viewers tuned in to watch Toadie marry the love of his life but things took a tragic turn as they drove off when he kissed her at the wheel and lost control of the car which then plunged off a cliff and into the sea.
West was actually written out of the soap after he was hit by a bus in Sydney and suffered a brain haemorrhage after fracturing her skull.
