Emmerdale star Adam Thomas sparks fury after branding 9/11 a conspiracy

There are a number of high-profile conspiracy theories surrounding the attacks

EMMERDALE star Adam Thomas has sparked fury after branding the 9/11 terrorist attacks a "conspiracy".

The soap actor took to Twitter to share his views but not everyone agreed with him.

Last Sunday marked the 15th anniversary of the largest ever terrorist attack on US soil where nearly 3,000 were killed when Al-Qaeda suicide bombers hijacked four passenger jets and crashed them into the Twin Towers in New York, the Pentagon in Washington and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The debate on Adam's Twitter appeared to have been sparked by a documentary that aired on ITV on Tuesday night called 9/11: Truth Lies and Conspiracies.

Adam tweeted: "I hope the truth comes out one day 9/11".

While some users agreed that with him, others were outraged.

One tweeted: "It was a terrorist attack. I don't buy conspiracy theories. Only idiots do."

Another wrote: "I'm just having a brew with Elvis and he doesn't believe it either!..."

But other were more sympathetic to his view.

One said: "Crazy isn't it pal. Finding the terrorists passport intact at the bottom of the collapsed towers. Really????"

Another tweeted: "What about the plane that crashed into the pentagon ? Lol where ? Where is it !?"

To which Adam replied: "Too much bulls***" followed by some angry face emojis.

In a recent poll, almost half of Americans don't accept they've been told the whole story.

On the ITV documentary, relatives of the victims, intelligence personnel and a 9/11 obsessive named Jimmy Walter, who has spent £4.5million looking into different conspiracy theories gave their opinions.
