Gail Porter reveals insensitive comment from doctor made battle with anorexia ‘worse’
TV star has also revealed she hopes for another baby
GAIL Porter has been spotted for the first time since revealing she had surgery to reduced her boobs from a 28JJ to a 28C – and she looks happy and healthy.
The 45-year-old presenter was glowing as she greeted cameras outside the Loose Women studios, and even appeared to have ditched her bra to subtly show off her perky new chest.
Last week Gail opened up about her dramatic breast reduction to The Sun and revealed how feeling insecure about her breasts and wanting them to shrink led to her become anorexic when she was younger.
And today she told the Loose Women panel how a doctor’s throwaway comment made her battle with the illness “even worse”.
“I started dieting because I wanted to get rid of the breasts because I was so conscious of them and then [the weight came off] everywhere else,” Gail explained.
“Anorexia is a mental thing as well, I sort of got it into my head that I constantly wanted to diet and these weren’t going away and I ended up in hospital.
“Because I was so tiny and the doctor said to me, ‘You’ve got really big boobs for someone with anorexia’ and that was it, and it got even worse.
“He was going, ‘You should just eat a sandwich’ and it got even worse.”
Things are now looking up for the presenter, who has always been open about her mental health issues. And now Gail, who is mum to Honey, 14, has admitted that she’d “love” another baby.
“I get broody all the time and I’d love another baby, but I’d be quite happy to get another dog,” she told Closer magazine.
Gail added: “And besides, I’d need to get a man first.”
