The 43-year-old is planning an unlikely change of career after acting work has dried up

CORONATION Street actress Alison King is contemplating joining the circus as she struggles to find acting work after quitting the ITV soap.

The 43-year-old, who bid goodbye to character Carla Connor after 10 years in May, made the frank confession during a rare interview this week.

Talking to the , Alison said: “I’ve got no new acting projects in the pipeline.

“I may actually leave acting behind and join the circus.”

The star was joined by some of her former Corrie co-stars at the launch of Cirque Du Soleil’s new production Amaluna in Manchester.

After filming her final scenes for the Manchester based soap earlier this year, Alison revealed the impact it has had on her personal life.

She said: “It’s been emotionally draining.

“My advice to myself if I was starting Corrie again? Hit the ground running and wear flat shoes.

“Seriously, I’d wear flats, the high heels and cobbles have knackered my feet, I’d give the killer black heels a miss.

“And I wouldn’t put on a gravelly voice either, that’s been tough, it’s not my real voice. I’m shattered from filming so I hope it pleases everybody, I don’t think we could have put any more into it
