Brit Awards 2022 – Adele DOMINATES winners list & declares ‘I love being a woman’ at gender-neutral show

ADELE was the big winner at The Brit Awards last night, scooping 3 gongs and dedicating her Album of the Year prize to son Angelo.

The superstar, 30, held back tears as she praised her little boy for being so kind and gracious as she navigated her way through her painful split with her ex Simon, who she also thanked in her acceptance speech.

She said: "This album was all of our journey, not just mine."

She also appeared to make a dig at the show's controversial new "gender neutral" set-up, declaring "I love being a woman".

Comedian Mo Gilligan was praised by fans for hosting this year's ceremony, replacing Jack Whitehall who has helmed the event in recent years.

  • Brit awards viewing figures

    The Brit awards which aired on Tuesday night brought in a record low 2.7 million views.

    The viewing numbers have dropped off from last year and are well off the 9.8 million achieved in 1999.

    According to overnight figures, less than three million viewers tuned into the award ceremony`, with the one-off show beaten by BBC's newest drama This Is Going To Hurt.

  • ‘It’s no wonder I’ve never been invited back!’

    Kerry Katona has admitted she’s not surprised she hasn’t been invited back to the Brits after going down in the history books for all the wrong reasons.

    The 41-year-old was asked to present an award at the ceremony shortly after winning I'm A Celebrity in 2004.

    As she took to the stage, Kerry declared:  "Hello! You all look so clean and smell lovely. I just farted... anyway!"

    Sharing the clip as the ceremony took place last night, Kerry joked: “The worst moment in my career, including that This Morning interview. No wonder I was never invited back!”

    Speaking about the incident previously, Kerry wrote in her new! Magazine column:  "I haven't watched the Brit Awards in years, but seeing all the pictures reminded me of the time I was asked to present an award.

    "It was just after I won the Jungle and I awkwardly said on stage that I was so nervous that I'd just farted. They never asked me back after that!"

  • Emily Atack ‘cosies up to Strictly’s Giovanni Pernice’

    Emily Atack and Giovanni Pernice partied together after both attending the Brit Awards.

    The dancing pro was seen holding the star's hand and caressing her face at London nightclub The Box.

    The Strictly Come Dancing winner was seen impressing Emily with his dance moves and was seen with his arms around her.

    A source told The Sun: “Giovanni and Emily looked really cosy hanging out together in The Box.

    "It’s a really small club so there was no missing them. He was following her around all night and joined her on Maya Jama’s table.

    “They were sat in a corner together watching the raunchy performers on stage. When they were dancing, he had his arms around her.

    "Then in the smoking area they were holding hands. It looked like they were really into each other.”

  • Maya Jama awkwardly swerves engagement talk

    The star awkwardly shut down Mo Gilligan's questions about her love life during the Brit Awards 2022.

    As the presenters chatted in between awards Mo, 33, drew attention to the sparkler on 27-year-old Maya's ring finger.

    He said: "Maya, how has it been for you tonight - are you enjoying the vibes? I can't have you here without talking about that amazing rock on your finger.

    "That is the size of a small studio flat in London."

    But Maya clearly wasn't keen to discuss her love life on live TV. After pretending to hide her hand and looking slightly awkward, she replied: "Let's move on."

    In December The Sun revealed that Maya is engaged to NBA player Ben Simmons.

  • Sophie Kasaei reveals EYE-WATERING bar bill

    Former Geordie Shore star Sophie Kasaei was left horrified when she was lumbered with bill of nearly £200 as she got drinks at the bash.

    Sophie shared a picture of her pricey total - £198 – and branded it “f**king disgusting”.

    The 32-year-old glammed up for the celebrity-packed evening, donning a long black dress with a sparkling diamante slip over one of her legs.

    The MTV favourite slicked her hair back into a chic high ponytail and sported a dramatic palette of make-up, including false lashes and a nude lipstick.

    It was confirmed that Jodie Whittaker was pregnant by the star herself whilst on the red carpet at the Brit Awards.

    The actress revealed the joyous news as she cradled her blossoming baby bump while posing for photos at the star-studded awards ceremony at London’s O2 Arena.

    Although the BBC star didn’t address her pregnancy or how far long she is on the red carpet, the dress' designer confirmed the news in an Instagram post.

    The British brand explained that the look was created with her pregnancy in mind. 

    They wrote: "The beautiful #jodiewhittaker in our custom made beanbag ball dress for #thebritawards2022 @britawardsinc – the dress is all made from end of life materials and was created specifically to incorporate her pregnancy, while allowing Jodie to retain her sense of self. 

    "We’ve worked with Jodie before and love the energy she brings to our pieces… for this occasion, we wanted to make something both structured and yet playful – and this is the result!

    "Photograph taken just before Jodie headed off to the awards, looking glowing and glorious courtesy of @tahira_makeup and @soobroyhair."

  • Maya Jama puts on a brave face during work hours after Brit Awards

    The radio presenter was up early for work and took to social media at 8am on Wednesday to detail how she was back in hair and make-up getting ready for another busy day.

    During the award ceremony Maya, 27, stunned on the red carpet at London's O2 Arena on Tuesday night, where she was seen pouring drinks for her celebrity friends.

    Just seven hours after she was seen updating her fans from behind the scenes of the awards ceremony, she once again return to Instagram with a new video.

    Maya sat down to get glammed for another event as she wrote to fans: "And the work continues lol top of the bludclart morning."

  • Viewers all saying the same thing after Ed's award win

    The Brits chose to scrap gendered categories this year as they wanted to celebrate "artists solely for their music and work, rather than how they choose to identify or as others may see them."

    But fans had other ideas and shared their thoughts on Twitter as Ed scooped Best Songwriter.

    One said: "they gave Ed Sheeran a made up award to make him feel loved I’m dying hahahahah!"

    Another said: "The BRiTs last year were a lot better. This year's show is so predictable. Adele winning the awards leaving Ed Sheeran with almost none so far. He should win at least one."

    Another ranted: "FINALLY!! ED SHEERAN WINS AN AWARD!"

  • Idris Elba suffered 'hilarious' wardrobe malfunction

    TV star Idris Elba took to the stage at The Brits to present a category prize, but fans spotted he had left himself flying low.

    He attended the vent wearing a pink bomber jacket emblazoned with Gucci across the chest, which he paired with some black jeans. 

    Whilst reading out the names of the nominated artists which included Adele, Dave, Ed Sheeran, Little Simz and Sam Fender, it became apparent that his flies had been left undone.

    Many fans took to twitter with one saying: "Not Idris Elba presenting with his flies undone.”

    Another said: “Idris Elba forgetting his flies are down love to see it.” 

  • Maura Higgins ends the night in McDonalds

    After attending such a glamorous event not many would expect to see attendees visiting McDonalds for a late night bite.

    However, Maura Higgins ended her boozy night out at the Brit Awards by treating herself to a McDonald’s drive-thru.

    The 31-year-old shared a snap as she tucked into a cheeseburger and fries, with six chicken nuggets on the side at 3.52 am.

    The former Love Island star looked amazing for the evening wearing a black and white cropped top, which showed off her impressive abs.

    She teamed it with a daring matching skirt, which made her long legs look even more slender.

    Adele has recently caused a stir after cancelling her Las Vegas shows, however it seemed all was forgiven as she claimed multiple awards at the Brits.

    She scooped Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year for Easy On Me.

    But at London’s O2 Adele, 33, made a veiled dig at the new gender-neutral Artist gong, saying: “I understand why the name of this award has changed but I really love being a woman and a female artist. I’m really proud of us.”

    The superstar singer said she had no plans to party after the bash.

    She said: “I’m going straight back to my flat, bed and getting a McDonald’s, 100 per cent.”

    Comedian Mo Gilligan has become a regular on our screens and there was no change at the Brit Awards.

    He replaced Jack Whitehall who had previously presented the awards for four years.

    But it seems The Masked Singer judge Mo is a hit with viewers, as they took to Twitter to praise the comedian.

    One wrote: "Omg Mo Gilligan presenting the brits this year. Thank u."

    Another said: "Petition for Mo to present the Brits every year from now on."

    And a third said: "Mo Gilligan is brilliant."

  • Fans left puzzled after Courtney Cox makes appearance

    Many fans were left confused after American actress Courtney Cox made an appearance at the Brits.

    Courteney took to the stage to present the gong for International Song of the Year.

    Taking to Twitter, many viewers questioned why the star was at the awards show.

    One fan said: “Courteney Cox at the #brits is just random!?”

    “Lovely to see her like but a random choice in our Courteney #Brits," another commented.

  • Anne Marie makes light of the situation

    Anne Marie had a minor hiccup during her performance as she took a tumble whilst navigating a set of stairs.

    However, the star has made light of the situation after taking to Twitter explaining, 'didn't need my left ankle anyway'.

    Despite the fall Anne Marie got back up and continued to put on a show for her fans.

    Famous faces piled out onto the streets after an eventful night of partying following the Brits ceremony at the O2 Arena.

    Celebrity Juice stars Laura, 36, and Emily Atack, 33, were among those spotted leaving venues after a boozy night at the Brits - where Adele made a triumphant return.

    After stealing the show on the red carpet earlier in the evening, actress Emily was snapped giggling in the back of a taxi with Strictly star Graziano Di Prima.

    Keeping her eyes to the floor, her pal Laura was spotted walking out of a party in a minidress.

    Her hair remained neatly styled as she kept her composure on the brief walk to a taxi across the road to whisk her off home.

    The same couldn't be said for other celebrities, who ditched their high heeled shoes as they exited the celebrity-packed clubs.

    Adele declared "I love being a woman" as she scooped a new gender neutral Brit Award.

    The singer, 33, was crowned Artist of the Year - the first time male and female artists have battled it out for one prize.

    As she took to the podium to pick up her gong, the star appeared to take swipe at the event's new gender neutral categories as she declared 'I love being a female artist'.

    She said: "I really wasn't expecting this one at all. I want to say a massive congratulations to Little Sims. Dave, Ed, Sam, I'm so proud to be in your company.

    "I love being an artist. I can't believe its my job. England, the UK, we have so many incredible young artists coming up.

    "I understand why this has changed, but I really love being a woman and a female artist. I'm really proud of us."

    BRIT Awards fans were all in agreement that Little Simz's mum "stole the show".

    The rapper, 27, took her mother up onto the stage at London's O2 Arena as she collected her first ever gong.

    Bookmaker Coral makes Adele odds-on at 1-2 to play Glastonbury in 2022.

    It comes after the Hello singer has a successful night at the Brit Awards on Tuesday night, scooping three gongs and performing live at the event.

    Coral’s John Hill said: “Adele was rewarded at the Brit Awards with three prizes on what has been a spectacular return for the British artist.

    "She is now being backed to perform at Glastonbury later this year where she is odds-on to appear at Worthy Farm.”
