Ed Balls banned from eating pies and forced to obey new rules by strict professional dance partner Katya Jones
It looks like Ed can’t even watch his beloved football team play without having to take time out to foxtrot
ED Balls’ plans for a last weekend jolly before Strictly have been kicked into touch by his strict dance partner.
The ex-Shadow Chancellor, 49, had hoped for two days off and enjoy the odd pie while watching his beloved Norwich City take on Cardiff on Saturday afternoon.
But pro dancer Katya Jones, 25, banned him from not training and has now travelled up to carry out practice sessions at the team’s Carrow Road ground.
A source said: “Ed was hoping to see Norwich play and have a relaxing weekend tucking into a pie before the live shows start.
“But Katya was furious and has now caught the train up to Norwich to get some practice sessions in before and after the game.
“They plan to move some furniture around in one of the function rooms or use the Coney training ground. Delia Smith also really wants to pop in and see how he’s doing.”
The TV chef owner made Ed chairman of the Championship side last season before they were relegated.
He is set to miss lots of fixtures when the competition’s live shows start on September 23.
The Sun revealed that producers had already told him to keep his mouth shut after he was caught singing during the first group dance last week.
He later described his dancing to that of a “slug” before giving himself a black eye after walking into a glass door.
Ed said his wife MP Yvette Cooper, 47, and three kids said he looked like a “camp rugby player” and warned he would be “mincing around”.
He explained: “I’m not sure I was more traumatised by my dad’s moves which looked rather more kind of dad-like than I expected, or the pictures of me with all these sparkling celebrities and me who looks like I’m about to serve people drinks in my bow-tie.”
