Strictly’s John Whaite signed up by Andrew Lloyd Webber for huge new West End musical this summer

HE fell at the last hurdle on Strictly but 2021 finalist John Whaite has scored a ten from his new boss – Andrew Lloyd Webber.

I’ve learned the baker-turned-dancer has landed the lead role in the theatre guru’s next big musical and will appear in the West End this summer.

An announcement is due any day now about the upcoming show, which is expected to launch in July.

A source said: “John will take centre stage in the show.

"It’s a dream job for him.

“He really impressed on Strictly and when Andrew found out John has an ­excellent singing voice too, he reached out.

“It could be an ­incredible new start for him.”

The Sun told in November how 2012 Bake Off winner John had received offers from West End bigwigs.

He said at the time: “I can’t say much but there are a few people interested in booking me.”

And with the biggest name in theatre now behind him, the sky is the limit.
