Brave Shannen Doherty shares the after effects of ‘chemo day’ on Instagram during cancer battle
The actress took to Instagram to show an image of her in hospital
ACTRESS Shannen Doherty shared a hospital snap of her "chemo day" detailing the painful after-effects of the treatment during her brave battle with cancer.
The Charmed star revealed she had woken up with swollen eyes and couldn't stop tears from streaming down her face ahead of her day in the medical ward.
The black and white snap showed Shannen, 45, wearing a patterned bandanna over her head and half of her face staring straight into the lens.
Despite the grim day of treatment ahead, she showed her Instagram followers she was keeping her spirits up with a half-smile.
Meanwhile her mum Rosa could be seen perched on a chair and looking into the camera.
Shannen, who was diagnosed with the life-threatening disease in 2013, wrote alongside the snap: "Chemo day.
"Woke up with puffy eyelids, eyes that won't stop watering and a big desire to stay home ... #themanyfacesofcancer #fightlikeagirl."
The hashtags at the end of her post reassured her loyal fans she was prepared to battle the horrid illness head on.
Meanwhile her army of supports quickly reacted to the picture post.
One commented:"Praying hard for you Shan, you're my warrior and strength tonight," while another posted: "Chemo is horrible I know stay strong."
Another wrote a touching post of: "May God keep you," while one added: "Hand in there sweetie," followed by an Emoji prayer icon.

The TV star has kept her Instagram page topped up with a photo documentary giving a candid insight into her experiences as a cancer sufferer.
She recently plumped for a bright pink wig during a night out with pals and uploaded the picture with the words #pinkhairdon'tcare.
Last week, she was back in hospital for more chemo and wrote: "The many faces of cancer.
"Chemo Day. What we call the Red Devil being injected into me via the port that's in my chest."
She added: "Dawn is my nurse and takes excellent care of me."
She dated the picture August 10.
During her cancer fight, she decided to shave off her iconic ebony locks as she began to take on the disease.
She has proudly shown off some intimate moments with her friends and family who have supported the star throughout her ordeal.
Shannen has also recently settled a long-fought battle with her old management company who she claimed didn’t do their duty to maintain her health insurance through the Screen Actor’s Guild, causing her to wait for the much needed treatment following her diagnosis.
She hit fame in the 90s with a series of acclaimed roles including the witch drama Charmed, the leading love in 1996 film Mallrats, and as a member of the original cast of American teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210.
