Newly-single Taylor Swift looks smug as she struts her stuff after dumping Tom Hiddleston over refusal to be his ‘arm candy’

TAYLOR Swift appeared to smirk to herself as she was photographed for the first time since it emerged she'd split from Tom Hiddleston.

The 26-year-old - famed for her hit songs and string of failed high-profile relationships - looked rather pleased as she headed out in gym clothes.

Wearing a pair of grey leggings and a tight black vest, she held her head high and seemed to be stifling a grin as she strutted confidently towards a waiting car.

Romantic , who has a track record of starting new relationships fresh from the ashes of a failed one, might have been picturing her next boyfriend - or hoping that he's just around the corner.

While has kept a low profile since the sad news that their three month union had come to an abrupt end, public break-ups are like water off a duck's back to Taylor, who is likely to be unphased by the increased interest in her private life.

She's previously been in relationships with Joe Jonas, John Mayer, Harry Styles and most recently, Calvin Harris.

Taylor and Tom apparently split as the 35-year-old British hunk was too eager to be seen in public with Taylor.

This, according to reports, made her feel awkward and perhaps like he was trying to steal the spotlight from her.

Tom is up for an Emmy later this month, but was disappointed to learn that Taylor wouldn't accompany him to the glittering ceremony.

Their constant stream of icky PDAs even left some cynics questioning if their romance was real or just a piece of performance art for a new music video.

Sadly for Tom a lot can change in three months, and while they started out with a stream of somewhat sickening PDAs, they seem to have fizzled out.

Similarly, when they first got together he was rumoured to be in line to play James Bond... but it is thought that he is no longer in the running as people didn't take their relationship as being totally genuine.
