Inside the Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston conspiracy theories about why they REALLY broke up
The pair split after a three month fairytale romance
TAYLOR Swift and Tom Hiddleston called time on their fairytale romance of three months this week and there are already a number of conspiracy theories about why they split.
Many fans have been sceptical about their relationship since they first hooked up in June and subsequently went on a number of very public holidays together.
Naturally, Taylor's fans are desperate to know the reasons behind her latest break-up but fans are STILL divided over whether their romance was real in the first place.
Naturally, the internet was flooded with hilarious memes as fans responded to their short lived romance but they have also come up with plenty of conspiracy theories about the most talked-about relationship on the planet.
Music Video
One of the enduring fan theories is that their entire romance was all a performance for an epic music video, a la Beyonce's Lemonade.
Because the pair went public with their romance so quickly, which peaked with Tom wearing an 'I heart TS' tshirt in the sea at her 4th of July party, detractors were suspicious that they weren't as loved up as they seemed.
As the news of their split broke, fans took to Twitter to speculate that the pair "have finished filming".
One user wrote: "This will go down as the longest amount of time spent shooting a music video #Hiddleswift ."
Another added: "And this is where Taylor reveals #Hiddleswift was a music video a drops a bomb ass album on us all."
But will Taylor's fans - who are all anxious for new music - be left disappointed or will she surprise the world and release a video album starring the British heartthrob?
Fans could be onto something as the 26-year-old has released an album every two years since starting her career and 1989 is about to celebrate its second anniversary.
The numerous high-quality paparazzi shots of them on holidays or meeting his parents in Suffolk could feed into the theory that it's all for a video.
Tom goes to Hollywood
Another enduring theory is that the whole relationship was a ruse to increase Tom's profile in Hollywood.
While he's not new to fame, thanks to his role as Loki in the Avengers franchise, The Night Manager actor is now a household name across the pond since dating Taylor.
Fans thought that if their romance was just for a visual album, then the 'Shake It Off' singer would drop it before Tom's appearance at the Emmy's, which would be a massive publicity boost for both of them.
Many believed it was showmance created to boost Tom's chances of becoming the next James Bond.
But the jury seems to be out on this one as while her pal told The Sun that Taylor didn't like the publicity that came with their relationship, Tom's friends hit back saying she loved the limelight and he went "along with her antics...to make her happy".
Kimye drama
Some internet users claimed the relationship was a set-up by the Blank Space superstar in order to deflect attention from her ongoing feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.
One of the off-repeated sides of this conspiracy is that Taylor planned for the first pictures of her and Tom kissing to coincide with the release of Kim Kardashian's interview in GQ in which she called the singer a "liar".
Their feud was sparked over Kanye West's song Famous in which he he raps: "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. I made that b**** famous.”
When the track was released Taylor claimed Kanye never contacted her to let her know she was going to be referenced in the song.
It's all to do with Idris Elba
One of the least-likely but most entertaining conspiracy theories around Hiddleswift is that it was all a plan by British actor Idris Elba to get Tom out of the running for the Bond role.
Tom's odds of landing the coveted role of 007 when Daniel Craig leaves have dropped since he hooked up with Taylor.
reports the background on the theory is that "Idris Elba actually introduced Taylor and Tom at the Met Gala, in hopes that they would hit it off, act completely gauche, and ruin Tom's chances of the big role.
"This would make Taylor and Tom but innocent players in his evil master plot."
The news outlet concludes the theory is "probably total rubbish" but it's one of the more fun ones to do with the now defunct Hiddleswift.
