Michelle Keegan left ’emotionally drained’ following gruelling Army training for Our Girl

Former Corrie star was shocked when she was put through real intense training sessions

MICHELLE Keegan has revealed she totally committed to her new role in Our Girl - and was put through her paces with a series of intense exercises in order to be as realistic as possible.

The former Corrie star will soon hit our screens as Corporal Georgie Lane - an Army medic sent for a six week period in war-torn Kenya.

Now Michelle, 29, has spoken of what she had to go through in order to prepare herself for her new position away from the Corrie cobbles - even going as far as employing the help of trainees at Sandhurst in order to make her character as accurate as she could.

She also learned first aid and hostile environment training, and did exercises that involved running around the South African desert wearing full Army gear in order to prepare her for her new life as Georgie.

: ";I got shouted at a lot – if we answered back, we had to do press ups and squats.

"If someone was late we had to do 10 press ups. We learnt how to dress properly. It has to be so precise as you’re scrutinised.”

In the show she plays an Army medic who is stuck in a love-triangle while serving in the world’s biggest refugee camp in Kenya.

New sneak peaks see her passionately kiss Luke Pasqualino on set, and will also lock lips with Royce Pierreson in the new series.

When asked which actor was the best kisser, she replied: “I’m going to say both of them were very good.”

Meanwhile, Michelle and husband Mark Wright have finally put to rest rumours their marriage was suffering after their time apart because of her filming schedule for Our Girl and her newest TV show, Tina and Bobby.

The couple we snapped looking more loved up than ever as attended the screening of the show's first episode in Mayfair.
