MICHELLE Keegan has revealed she totally committed to her new role in Our Girl - and was put through her paces with a series of intense exercises in order to be as realistic as possible.
The former Corrie star will soon hit our screens as Corporal Georgie Lane - an Army medic sent for a six week period in war-torn Kenya.
Now Michelle, 29, has spoken of what she had to go through in order to prepare herself for her new position away from the Corrie cobbles - even going as far as employing the help of trainees at Sandhurst in order to make her character as accurate as she could.
She also learned first aid and hostile environment training, and did exercises that involved running around the South African desert wearing full Army gear in order to prepare her for her new life as Georgie.
Another task she was involved in simulated warfare with use of paintball guns, with Michelle aiding 'injured' people while still being safe in the line of fire.
She told : "I got shouted at a lot – if we answered back, we had to do press ups and squats.
"If someone was late we had to do 10 press ups. We learnt how to dress properly. It has to be so precise as you’re scrutinised.”
