Who is Chris Lowe?
Christopher Sean Lowe is a 62-year-old English musician, singer and songwriter.
Lowe attended an independent school in his home town of Blackpool called Arnold School.
During his time at school he would play the trombone in a seven-piece dance band named One Under the Eight.
The band would play his old-time favourites like "Hello Dolly", "La Bamba" and "Moon River".
His grandfather was a member of the comedy jazz troupe The Nitwitz and was a trombonist.
Lowe studied architecture at the University of Liverpool from 1978 but finished his degree.
He stated on multiple TV appearances the reasoning behind it was because of the formation of the Pet Shop Boys.
When was the Pet Shop Boys formed?
Pet Shop Boys was formed in London in 1981 by vocalist Neil Tennant and Chris as the keyboardist.
During the 40 years of being a duo they had reach incredibly heights of success.
They are now a three-time Brit Award winner, a six-time Grammy nomination and since 1984 they have managed to achieve 43 Top 30 singles.
22 of the 30 singles were Top 10 hits in the UK Singles Chart.
Their success reached the US with five US top ten singles in the 1980s.
At the 2009 Brit Awards in London, Pet Shop Boys received an award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.
In 2016, Billboard magazine named Pet Shop Boys the number one dance duo/group over the 40 years since the chart's inception in 1976.
In 2017, the duo received NME's Godlike Genius Award.
