ALESHA DIXSONG

Britain’s Got talent judge Alesha Dixon makes a last ditch attempt at solo music with new songs in 2022

ALESHA DIXON is making a last-ditch attempt at reviving her solo music career, I can exclusively reveal.

A source said of the former Misteeq singer and Walk The Line reality TV judge: “Alesha is best known now as a TV personality but her first love has always been music.

"She has been working hard on new tracks in the studio and is planning to release them next year.

“Alesha has been working on the songs for a long time but now she is pushing ahead and concentrating seriously on the tracks.”

The career move comes after she kicked her old advisers into touch and built her own team around her.

The insider added: “It’s almost as if she has a new lease of life after cutting her team and rebuilding her brand.

"Alesha has been telling friends she is her own boss and sees the next few months as her time to shine.

“It is such an exciting time for her and she can’t wait for her fans to hear what she has been working on.”

Alesha has been out in the wilderness for some time. Her most recent album was Do It For Love in 2015, which peaked at No81.

But six years on and with a fresh sound, I think I can get behind it.

The source added: “Alesha is putting everything she has into her music and during lockdown got into the best shape of her life.

“In between home-schooling her seven-year-old daughter Azura and work, she started a strict regime.

“Alesha feels more confident than ever both physically and mentally and is ready for this new challenge.”

After she wraps up Walk The Line at the end of the week, Alesha’s next big project is Britain’s Got Talent.

Following a year off air due to the pandemic, Simon Cowell's hit talent show will start filming again next month.

Once again, Alesha will join Simon, David Walliams and Amanda Holden on the judging panel.

She’s certainly not giving herself much downtime — but I have to say, I am looking forward to hearing what she has come up with.

BUBLE MISSED HIS SUN SPOT

MICHAEL Buble's crooning voice has made him the King of Christmas for millions of fans all over the world, but things were almost very different for him.

The singer, from Vancouver in Canada, said he almost became a journalist like me when he didn’t think his dream of making it in music was going to happen.

He explained: “I did anything I could do, hoping that there would be that person or that step.

“By the time I got to 25 or 26, it just wasn’t happening and I knew I was already passing the age of maybe getting signed because I wasn’t 21.

“I was in Toronto working and I had run out of money to come home. I got this corporate gig and I was like, ‘OK, I’ll do this gig’.

“It paid about $4,000, which got me a flight home. I actually wanted to go back to Vancouver as I was going to go to school to take up journalism.”

He added on the And The Writer Is  . . . podcast: “I had a lot of friends who were music journos and I thought, ‘This could be good, I can be creative and talk to people in this business that I like’.”

He stuck with it and has now sold more than 75million records and is a millionaire.

I’m sure he doesn’t regret not following my career path.

GARY'S CHRISTMAS JOY

HE has been on the road for his nationwide tour for the past few weeks and now Gary Barlow is winding down for the festive season.

With Christmas Day just five days away, the former Take That singer told me he couldn’t wait to get home to his wife Dawn and their three children.

In an exclusive chat to celebrate his album, The Dream Of Christmas, out now, Gary said: “We have quite a traditional Christmas in our house.

“Christmas Eve, we’re all wrapping the presents, getting all the last-minute bits and pieces in.

“Then we have a very traditional day – we open presents first thing in the morning, usually after I’ve taken the dogs for a walk.

“My mum will be with us this Christmas, and Dawn and I will share the cooking.

“By the end of the day, we’ll settle in for a film, after watching the usual Christmas favourites like Strictly Come Dancing, Top Of The Pops Christmas Special – and The Queen’s Speech, of course.

“I can’t wait – I love Christmas.”

As long as I don’t have to do any wrapping or help with the cooking, I can get on board with this level of festive cheer.

BROS NEW 2022 ALBUM

BROS are making a music comeback with their first album in 31 years.

Matt Goss, one half of the pop duo with twin Luke, revealed he had been in talks with his brother about a return.

Their last album was Changing Faces in 1991.

And he teased that the upcoming collection could be released in the New Year.

The band, which started as a trio with Craig Logan, sold 16million records worldwide before their split in 1992. Documentary Bros: After The Screaming Stops in 2018 led to a renewed interest in the duo.

On the future of the group, Matt said: “In 2022 we’ll address making a new record and possibly entertaining some of the offers we’ve had to make another documentary.

"There’s an energy when we’re together.”

He also revealed their fly-on-the-wall film helped heal old wounds with his drummer brother.

Matt explained to Sorted magazine: “It was like therapy in front of the world.

"I didn’t realise how angry my brother was about me being the frontman.

"But it was like the never-ending apology. I couldn’t apologise any more. It was 27 years ago.”

COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS CHARTS

LADBABY has taken an early lead in the biggest chart race of the year.

His song Sausage Rolls For Everyone is in pole position to be crowned the Christmas No1.

If it stays there it will be the YouTuber’s fourth consecutive festive chart topper, which would be a first for any act.

It features Ed Sheeran and Elton John and is a charity reworking of the superstars’ own seasonal single, Merry Christmas, which is its closest competition at No2.

While LadBaby is ahead on downloads, WHAM!’s Last Christmas was last night the most-streamed song of the week. It is at No3 overall.

In news which won’t be a welcome gift for Prime Minister Boris Johnson, the song Boris Johnson Is Still A F***ing **** – a sequel to a similarly titled tune which reached the Top Five last Christmas – was last night at No5.

I doubt he will be rocking out to that at any parties in Downing Street this year.

BRITNEY'S BABY MAKING

BRITNEY SPEARS may be getting her Christmas present in the bedroom.

Her actor fiance Sam Ashari said of their festive plans: “A lot of baby making!”

The mum of two told a court this year how her conservatorship was stopping her adding to her family.

Now she is out of the legal bond it looks like her brood could increase.

STRICTLY COME HOBBLING

ANNE-MARIE faced a pretty high hurdle to success on the Strictly Come Dancing festive special – her shoes.

The singer, who will be seen strutting her stuff doing the cha-cha, said: “The heels were the hardest part. I can’t stand up straight in heels, let alone dance in them.

“I loved it so much but I thought it would be easier than it was.”

The Don’t Play hitmaker is partnered by pro dancer Graziano Di Prima, left with Anne-Marie, on the BBC1 show which airs on Christmas Day.

She added: “I did dancing when I was younger and I thought I would be really good. But I put on heels and my feet were blistered and cut.”

Sounds like it’s Strictly Come hobbling.
