Rolling Stones are the most successful live act of the year – raking in over £87m
THEY only played 12 dates on their rescheduled No Filter tour but The Rolling Stones made a mint from the gigs.
The Jumpin’ Jack Flash hitmakers, headed up by Mick Jagger, have been crowned as the year’s biggest-grossing touring act after making £87.2million from the stadium dates.
That is £20million more than closest rival Harry Styles. The former One Direction star coined in £65.5million from 30 sold-out shows on his Love On Tour.
Figures from trade publication PollStar in the US confirmed that Harry’s three nights at New York’s Madison Square Garden alone made him £6.1million. He also sold more gig tickets than anyone else in 2021, as 669,051 fans paid to see him play.
In third place for earnings, Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer’s combined concerts, the Hella Mega Tour, made £50.8million.
Meanwhile, Jonas Brothers proved they still have an army of fans. Nick, Joe and Kevin raked in £32.1million from their concerts, putting them in tenth place.

SAWEETIE WRAPPED IN SILVER
SAWEETIE is certainly My Type. The US rapper put on a very energetic performance at iHeartRadio’s Jingle Bell Ball in Philadelphia.
She made sure her outfit was fittingly festive as she high-kicked in a silver playsuit teamed with a chunky diamond necklace, fishnet tights and killer heels.

Last week she announced a new project ahead of her debut album Pretty B***h Music. Icy Season, featuring multiple artists and interviews with Saweetie, is out on January 7.
Her album was due out this month but pushed back because she wanted it to be perfect.
She said: “I was really living with it. One of my goals is for people to really feel something with every song, so I had to go back and reconstruct some songs. Just know that I’m a perfectionist and it’s on the way.”
JUST CALLED TO SAY I LOVE YOU . . .
HE might be a multi-millionaire pop star but Justin Bieber is just like any other tourist enjoying the Big Smoke.
The Canadian superstar is in London with his model missus Hailey following his performance at Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball at the weekend.
Since arriving he’s partied in Tape nightclub, visited the Royal Opera House for a wine and enjoyed a stroll around the West End with a coffee.
The couple, who married in 2018, even stopped off for a snog in a phone box. I hope they sprayed some anti-bac on their hands afterwards . . .
RANVIR IS RUMBA’LD
ALL eyes were on superstar acts such as Ed Sheeran and Anne-Marie at Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball.
But behind the scenes a new romance was bubbling away.
Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh was seen cosying up with her new man — a Strictly Come Dancing crew member 18 years her junior, who she met while a celebrity contestant on the BBC show last year.
And now she has confirmed she is smitten with production secretary Louis Church, 26. Speaking at the Jingle Bell Ball at London’s O2 Arena over the weekend, delighted Ranvir said of her new man: “I’m really happy.”
Ranvir married in 2012 and had a son Tushaan, who was born the same year, but pals insist there was no cross-over with Louis. Onlookers revealed how Ranvir and Louis kissed and cuddled at the music event when they attended with Tushaan on Sunday.
A source said: “They have been dating for a few months and are completely in love with each other. She has met his family and went to his aunt’s wedding with him last week. And it’s obvious Louis has taken a real shine to Tushaan.
“They’ve kept their romance out of the spotlight. But when Ranvir was invited to go to the Jingle Bell Ball she wanted to go with Louis and her son. They both are clearly madly in love with each other and were holding hands nearly the whole day. They have incredible chemistry. Ranvir was beaming with happiness as she watched Louis and Tushaan together.
“Louis couldn’t stop smiling either and looked really proud as Ranvir posed for pictures with fans.”
Ranvir had previously been linked to her Strictly professional partner, Italian Giovanni Pernice, after their close friendship on the show last year raised eyebrows among crew members.
But it’s now clear that Ranvir secretly had eyes for Louis on set. The couple are now looking forward to spending their first Christmas together.
I’ll raise a pint of Amstel to that.
BRITS IS ALL GO
IT may be cold and wet outside but at least we finally have the prospect of a proper Brit Awards bash to look forward to.
After a stripped-back version in May I am now happy to confirm it’s all systems go for 2022, on February 8. And Brits Week presented by Mastercard for War Child returns with a stellar line-up.
Anne-Marie, Becky Hill, Mimi Webb and Craig David have all been confirmed for the series of shows across London. The awards night itself will be hosted by The Masked Singer judge Mo Gilligan, taking over from fellow comic Jack Whitehall.
It will be the first year with gender-neutral categories – after Sam Smith, who identifies as non-binary, hit out at bosses for having male and female ones. Holly Humberstone, winner of the Rising Star gong, will perform alongside other stars yet to be announced.
I’m already counting down the days.
Different level
WHO better to play a younger version of SHARLEEN SPITERI than her own daughter?
The TEXAS vocalist called upon her daughter Misty to appear in the music video for her new single, Unbelievable.
Speaking about working with the teen, Sharleen said: “This is a very emotional song for me and now it’s gone to a different level with my daughter Misty Kyd starring in the video.”
Sharleen will tour the UK next year, kicking off in Dundee on February 7.
LUTHER’S £17.2M LOOT
HE’S starred in some of the biggest films screened this year, including The Harder They Fall and Suicide Squad.
And it turns out Idris Elba was paid royally for his work filming last year, banking a whopping £85,000 a week.
New accounts for the Luther star reveal he earned £4.4million in 2020 and now has £17.2million in three companies he uses for his acting pay.
On that basis, it should be a merry Christmas in the Elba household. And Idris’ bumper pay days look set to continue into the New Year. He started filming for the film version of his hit TV show Luther last month in London.
Idris has kept the plot line under wraps but said they’d be pushing the boat out for his cop character.
He said: “With a film, the sky is the limit. Obviously, you can be a little bit more bold in the storylines, maybe international, a little bit sort of up the scale.” He added: “But John Luther is always going to be John Luther.”
JAX IS A SOCKS MANIAC
JAX JONES has had seven UK Top 10 hits and flies all over the world to play sell-out gigs for his fans. But despite his VIP lifestyle, he has confessed his favourite perk of the job leaves people baffled.
In an exclusive chat, the Out Out star said: “I ask for Nike black socks on every rider. It’s like an unlimited supply of socks for me. Some people think it’s weird, but I don’t.
“If they are not there then I am upset, I need to send an email. I like keeping my sock drawer fresh. I pretty much wear brand new socks every day. It is one of the perks of my life.”

For his latest venture, Jax has teamed up with Pokemon to celebrate its 25th anniversary. His track Phases with rising star Sinead Harnett appears on the video gaming giant’s new album Pokemon 25: The Album.
Jax added: “I remember when I was younger I was so excited when I completed Pokemon Red and I collected all the trading cards. I’m so happy to be able to relive it as an adult. It’s super cool.”
