SIMON Cowell appeared to finally find his true love on The X Factor - sparking up a bromance with hopeful and 'lookalike' Edward Lee.

The cheeky Scottish charmer kicked off the second show of the series with a rendition of Elvis and Tom Jones' song, I Just Can't Help Falling In Love With You.

Edward proved to be quite the charmer - not least with Simon Cowell

But it appeared he won over the head judge before even singing a note as he presented Simon with a bobblehead of himself and telling him he was often confused for him.

Louis Walsh remained unconvinced and asked him: "Is that a good thing?"

Eddie reassured him that it was and that his likeness to the music mogul had helped him with the ladies in the past.

Proud Simon then gushed: "That's why I do this."

The pair's unlikely bromance continued throughout the singer's audition, much to the shock of fellow judges Nicole and Louis.

At one point, Simon tells Eddie that he is "even better looking up close" and later questioned: "Is it wrong that I find you attractive?"

However, viewers of the show weren't entirely convinced that the lookalike had the necessary credentials to pair himself up with Simon.

Matt Edmonson, who co-hosts spin-off show The Xtra Factor with Rylan Clark-Neal, wrote on Twitter: "This bloke looks EXACTLY like Simon. Through frosted glass. With your head covered in a silk stocking."

He then added: "I'm looking forward to the Simon and Eddie fan fiction. I ship them."

Eddie eventually received three yeses from the judges and is now through to the bootcamp leg of the competition.

Simon then started hugging and kissing his new toy, leading cheeky Nicole to ask the question: "Do you want us to leave you alone with yourself?
