Rihanna demands MTV bosses keep her far away from Rita Ora at Video Music Awards
Work singer to receive Video Vanguard Award and 'wants night to be all about her'
ORGANISING one of the world's biggest awards full of A-list stars is hard enough at the best of times.
But for MTV bosses things were made even more difficult because there was bickering among guests before anyone even got close to the Video Music Awards red carpet at Madison Square Garden, in New York.
Former label mates RIHANNA and RITA ORA were once again at loggerheads, with the former demanding the Brit singer sits away from her inside the ceremony so she can't steal her thunder.
A show source said: “Rihanna is receiving the Video Vanguard Award and she wants the evening to be all about her. She isn’t going to let anything, or anyone, upstage her.
“She has never liked Rita and put a call into MTV last week asking for her to be sat far away from her so she isn’t disturbed during the ceremony.”
LATEST FROM BIZARRE
The pair’s long-running feud is no secret, with RiRi believing Rita was only ever signed to her label Roc Nation to make her nervous.
In May I revealed how Rihanna had banned her from her Met Gala after-party while in December I told how she had been blamed for playing a major part in making sure Rita’s career stalled while with Roc Nation.
Rihanna is opening the show tonight, which will air in the UK tomorrow at 9pm on MTV, and is expected to belt out several songs in a grand performance featuring multiple costumes.
BRITNEY SPEARS, ARIANA GRANDE and NICKI MINAJ are also performing during the three-hour spectacular.
They are all sat front row, so I doubt they will have any complaints.
What a bebe
MY favourite new pop star BEBE REXHA was due to guest present at the MTV VMAs last night – but that didn’t stop her bouncing up on stage for a wild set the night before.
She showed off her raciest dance moves at the VMA pre-party, even though her parents were in the audience.
Bebe was joined by US electronica duo PHANTOGRAM and Swedish pop star TOVE LO, who premiered four songs from her second album Lady Wood, which is all about splitting from her boyfriend.
Tove told the crowd: “It feels amazing to play new stuff, it’s been forever. Let’s keep it going with the heartbreak stories.”
