Rylan Clark-Neal glugs from a champagne bottle as he gets stuck in a lift shortly after hosting his first Xtra Factor
He kept his fans updated by tweeting live footage from inside
AFTER a very successful first show hosting the Xtra Factor, Rylan Clark-Neal’s celebrations were put on hold after he got stuck in a lift.
The presenter and his colleagues were leaving the studios when the lift they were in broke down.
But to stave off the boredom – and possibly a little bit of fear – the 27-year-old posted live footage from inside the lift while swigging from a champagne bottle.
His first tweet alerting his fans that he was in a pickle came just after midnight and he wrote: “You’re not gonna believe I’ve been stuck in a lift for the last half hour…”
He then posted a photo of himself sipping the fizz through a straw and wrote: “Thank Jesus I’ve got this, we are dying, help us Jesus.”
He then posted a video, captioned, “Please lord this could be the end,” as he said to camera: “We’re still in the lift.”
Now swigging from the bottle having discarded the straw, he pointed the camera at his colleagues who were trying to open the outside doors.
Someone then appears outside as Rylan asks: “Excuse me? Hello? Hello, are you the lift man?”
They are the informed that the fire brigade are on their way before he posted another video, captioned “Jesus save us for our sins”, as he finds out there are stuck between floors.
He then shared another video captioned “Sweet baby Jesus help us please” as one colleague is heard saying, “we might plummet to our deaths or we might not”.
Rylan then looked at the camera and said: “We might be out of champagne in a minute. This is like Big Brother in a lift. Although I am now Team X Factor.”
He then posted his final video and said: “Hi guys, it’s me. What can I say? Just seen some of your comments, we had a really, really great show so thank you so much for enjoying it and being part of it.”

Trying to smother his giggles while his colleagues giggled their heads off in the background, he added: “Now you may have seen that tonight, things took a turn for the worse. I was stuck in a lift for 45 minutes. I’d got as far as saying 53.
“All I wanted was the lift operator. And he wouldn’t come. Luckily, a runner used to work for a lift company, and with the help of a broom handle, saved us from our sins.
“It was very touch and go at certain points, the Moet ran out and we didn’t know what we were going to do. I’d like to thank you, the public, for being there for us. And most of us, I’d like to thank Jesus.”
