JUST one episode into the latest series and bookies already have a favourite to win The X Factor in the form of Scottish teen Caitlyn Vanbeck.
The 19-year-old, who opened up about being bullied, moved Nicole Scherzinger to tears with her performance of Kelly Clarkson’s Piece by Piece, and even got a hug from Simon Cowell, and bookies at William Hill reckon that if she carries on with performances like that she’ll go all the way to the final, giving her odds of 6/1 to win.
“The entirety of the UK, if not the world, were glued to their TV sets picking their X Factor winners and they reckon Caitlyn is the one to beat,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
Nicole told Caitlyn, “You’re a force to be reckoned with,” and Simon compared her to American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson.
“15 years ago I was on a show in America and a girl came in and told me she hadn’t had a break and her name was Kelly Clarkson and she went on to win American Idol," he said.
“For a moment there when I heard you singing the song it was like going back 15 years.”
Louis Walsh also got in on the action, and told Caitlyn, “I think you’re the best singer we’ve had”
As tonight’s show drew to a close, the odds for X Factor winner stood at: 6/1 Caitlyn Vanbeck; 12/1 Christian Burrows; 12/1 James Wilson; 25/1 Melissa Pedro; 25/1 Samantha Lavery; 33/1 Yes Lad; 40/1 Ryan Lawrie; 50/1 Honey G
