THE X Factor judges met their first boyband of the series tonight in the form of Yes Lad, and while the five boys delivered a brilliant performance of Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop This Feeling, Twitter was left wanting to “vomit” at their name.
The boys Joel, Cian, Sonny, Lewis and Luke aged 19-21, chose the name as an ode to their North-West roots, and while they seem happy with the quirky moniker, viewers seemed to think they could have chosen something better.
Some declared they already “hated” them before they started singing with comments such as, “They're called yes lad, I hate them already”, “Boy band from the north east called 'yes lad' on the X factor . 2016 is officially the worst year,” and “I’d send them home just for the pure fact they called themselves 'yes lad'.”
While other’s wanted them to consider their life choices tweeting, “They're called Yes Lad? Please reevaluate your life,” and, “What possessed them to come up with yes lad #XFactor”
And some said the name Yes Lad made them feel physically ill with, “the fact their group is called 'yes lad' just makes me want to vomit #XFactor”, and “I've actually just thrown up in my mouth at their band name - 'Yes lad'”
However after getting rave reviews from the judges, it’s unlikely the lads will care.
Nicole told them: “Sweet as pie you are so cute. I don’t feel like there’s any weak links in the group.”
While Simon mysteriously added: “I thought the performance was good, there were times when the vocals were a bit dodgy, for me there was one star. But I’m not going to say who it is.”
