The talented and the not-so-talented try and impress the hard-to-please judges
IT’S that time of year again when pop star hopefuls from across the nation try to impress Simon Cowell and his judges in an attempt to become the next big thing.
And ahead of tonight’s opening show of the thirteenth series of The X Factor, Sun Online brings you a sneak peak of some of the contestants hoping to make it big.
There’s boy band Yes, Lad who hail from Manchester and say they want to be the next big Northern all-boy group and perform Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop The Feeling.
Security guard Zach Devon, who is 41 and hails from Stockwell, tried some of his own material on judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh, as he performed his own song Fantasy.
There's 16-year-old Samantha Lavery who stuns the judges with her rendition of Ellie Goulding's Explosion, and said she was inspired by her Grandad to audition.
Christian Burrows is also hoping for a place at boot camp and brings tears to Sharon's eyes as he performs one of his own songs that has a very special dedication.
He also left Simon grinning when he whispers some juicy gossip in the music mogul's ears about the reality TV stars he serves in his job as a nightclub supervisor.
Stunning Rosie Mac, who is a model from Marbella in Spain, leaves the judges mouths agape when she reveals she is a body double for Emelia Clarke in Game of Thrones.
But will her singing prove to be as pretty as her looks?
James Wilson, a 34-year-old joiner from Leeds sang his heart out as he performed Ray LaMontagne's Jolene, and seemed to impress the judges despite his brief stumble as he forgot some of the lyrics.
Then there's Richard Jen Ting, who performs a rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow, but was it enough to get him through?
One person who gave a very emotional performance was Caitlyn Vanbeck, and 18-year-old student from Edinburgh who belted out Kelly Clarkson's Piece by Piece.

Kelly won the very ever series of American Idol back in 2002 so no doubt Caitlyn will be hoping that her song choice brings her as much luck as her idol.

Lewis Elkes from Essex paid homage to Nicole as he performed Pussycat Dolls' When I Grow Up and one performer who definitely made a huge impression was rapper Honey G who got Nicole and Sharon on their feet.
But which ones made it through and which ones had a tearful journey home?
