Selena Gomez’s loved ones planning intervention after clash with Justin Bieber over new girlfriend Sofia Richie
Spat with her ex has taken a toll on the troubled Disney star
SELENA GOMEZ shocked fans when she lashed out at ex-love JUSTIN BIEBER, riled by his public flaunting of girlfriend SOFIA RICHIE.
The bitter explosion, all played out on Instagram, saw Biebs quit the site after being scorned by his former flame for telling fans to lay off his new squeeze on social media.
Selena apologised – but the incident has taken such a worrying toll on the pop star I can reveal her loved ones are preparing to stage an intervention in the next few days.
A friend close to Selena said: “Justin and Selena’s relationship is notoriously rocky and it hasn’t been easy to see him move on so publicly with Sofia.
“But Selena is used to seeing him with other women – it’s the combination of being over-worked and under pressure.
“She’s been touring for four months non-stop and won’t rest until mid-December with her Revival tour still to hit Europe and South America.
“There’s real concern and the plan is to talk to her in the next few days to ask her to consider taking some time off.”
The measure comes ten days after Selena’s out-of-character outburst over Justin’s loved-up Insta snaps with the daughter of LIONEL RICHIE in Tokyo.
When he took a pop at followers posting abusive comments about Sofia, Selena added her own, writing: “If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol.
“It should be special between you two only. Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you. They were there for you before anyone.”
Things got messier when a screenshot of a comment alleged to have been made by Justin later emerged claiming Selena had cheated on him with ZAYN MALIK.
And I’m told the emotional trauma has been a kicking too far for the former Disney child star, who has only just picked herself back up after a turbulent few years.
In 2014, she checked herself into rehab in Arizona after undergoing treatment for lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease that causes flare-ups with symptoms like body aches, fevers, extreme fatigue and more.
She said at the time: “I needed time to just be OK.”
I hope she’s feeling back to her brilliant best soon.

HE has only been on Instagram for a few weeks but already TOM HIDDLESTON has been hacked.
The hackers shared a photo promising fans of TAYLOR SWIFT’s boyfriend they’d eventually give his account back to him, which they duly did after about two hours yesterday.
Lets hope he’s not put off posting pics.
Joe’s no Jamie
INSTAGRAM fitness sensation JOE WICKS may be lean, but he wasn’t too mean as he crashed Bizarre HQ’s lunch hour to pass verdict on our grub.
The Body Coach scrutinised the lunches of Sun staff – including one who picked the wrong day to indulge in a burger – live on my Facebook.
From Monday, Joe will be on Channel 4 when his series Joe Wicks: The Body Coach starts in a move surely set to worry JAMIE OLIVER.
But Joe played down rivalry with the telly chef. He said: “I love Jamie. He’s my ultimate aspiration as a family man, businessman and an entrepreneur.”
