FROM HOLLYWOOD TO WALFORD: Could Sean Slater be returning to EastEnders to bid farewell to Roxy Mitchell?
Actor Rob Kaplinsky said he would come back to Albert Square if Rita Simmons quit
HE might be a big Hollywood star now, but Robert Kaplinsky could be back on Albert Square very soon – if he lives up to a promise he made to his co-stars.
Because the actor, who starred as bad boy Sean Slater, said he would bring the character back to Walford if actress Rita Simons ever quit.
Rita, 39, announced she was leaving the soap, in which she has played Roxy Mitchell for the last nine years, shortly after actress Samantha Womack announced her departure.
Both she and Womack – who plays her on-screen sister Ronnie – will bow out in a dramatic storyline that bosses are keeping close to their chest for now.
Rob, 32, has never ruled out a return to the Square and once revealed he’d had several chats with former producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins about reprising the role.
And not long after he left the soap, Rob, 32, told Digital Spy that he would definitely return if Rita ever left.
He said: “I’ve always said that whatever happens if Rita ever leaves, I want to be in her exit storyline – I’d love to do that.”
Rob starred as Stacey’s brother Sean from 2006 to 2009 and his character dated Roxy Mitchell before marrying her.
