EastEnders actress Emma Barton opens up about the challenges of playing Honey Mitchell
The brunette spoke out about her role on today's Lorraine show and her upcoming drugs storyline
EASTENDERS actress Emma Barton has opened up on the rollercoaster of emotions which left her in floods of tears since resuming her role as fans' favourite Honey Mitchell.
Yet the pretty brunette has kept her silence on whether her huge drugs bust storyline will now threaten her relationship with on-screen hubby Billy (Perry Fenwick).
Since making her comeback on the soap a year ago, it was her role as mum to their daughter Janet (Grace) and scripts centred on her battle with Downs syndrome which proved a challenge.
Hosting the Lorraine show, Gaby Roslin said: "It was an extraordinary storyline and I know it affected you in real life," to which Emma replied: "I remember I didn't think I could stop crying one day.
She refused to budge on the details of her latest soap plot which see her discover a bag of what is believed to be cocaine in her flat while she is cleaning.
Viewers of the soap have watched Jay (Jamie Borthwick) descend into drug addiction in the aftermath of him being placed on the Sex Offenders Register for having a relationship with an underage schoolgirl.
Struggling to find work, he turned to Roxy Mitchell who set him up as a drug dealer but he ended up taking more than he was selling.
Talking of upcoming scenes on BBC One she said: "It's worrying, it's upsetting now got to deal with this.
"She's worried about how to tackle it.
"She's a very kind thoughtful soft character but she wont' take any messing about - we all have that side us.
"But enough is enough.
"She's got to tread very carefully, it's very risky."
