Inside the wild world of Hollywood badboy Alec Baldwin, from drug and drink abuse, violent outbursts and a toxic divorce
THE accidental killing of Halyna Hutchins is the latest traumatic event for superstar Alec Baldwin, whose life has been as dramatic as many of the characters he played on screen.
In the 1990s he secured his spot as one of Hollywood’s premier bad boys, making headlines for punching a photographer.
The star, who mocked ex-US President Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live, once described his daughter Ireland as a “thoughtless little pig” when she was 11 in a telephone tirade.
Then there was a bizarre scandal last year involving his wife Hilaria, 37, who was outed for misleading people about her Spanish heritage and accused of adopting a dodgy accent.
Alec leapt to her defence, turning his anger on journalists, calling one a “toxic little queen”.
His wild temper might have been inherited from his father, Alec Snr, a towering high school teacher in Massapequa, Long Island, New York.
The 30 Rock star said: “My father was tough. I learned to behave as he did, which was to not be afraid of anybody.
“And I’m not afraid of anybody. I don’t have a drop of fear in my whole body. Never. Never.”

As a young actor, the most famous of four actor brothers, Alec would often drive around the city with an open bottle of Sauvignon Blanc on ice.
He gave up drinking for good in 1985 after he was pulled over by cops.
He ditched the drugs and booze, saying: “Boy, that was a tough time. There was really, really a lot of pain in there. A lot of pain.”
Alec admitted he could behave “unreasonably” and “childishly”.
In the 1980s, he tussled with a man who pushed his girlfriend on the street.
In October 1995 he was placed under citizen’s arrest for punching a photographer in the face.
He said he was trying to protect his newborn daughter from paparazzi.
Alec grappled another photographer in 2013.
In 2006, during a theatre run of Entertaining Mr Sloane, he punched a hole through a dressing room wall, furious that a lack of air conditioning made his glasses slide off his nose on stage.
And in December 2011, he was kicked off an American Airlines flight when he caused a scene by refusing to switch off his phone.
His first marriage — to actress Kim Basinger — was volatile.
The couple wed in 1993 after a six-week engagement. But according to LA Confidential star Kim, now 67, he would regularly tell her: “I hate you, you know.”
“I hate you back,” she would respond.

She eventually filed for divorce in 2001.
Her father, Don, said at the time: “I love Alec. He’s the most kind and generous man and he’s overcome some very difficult things. All but one: his anger.”
