It’s being reported by magazine that the former Friends star attended the memorial service but when she was asked if she wanted to take the ashes, she said no.

A source close to the family told the magazine that Jen said: "I don't want them.”

They added: “Someone tried to say that Jen thinks having the ashes around her home is morbid, that it's not her style.'

Jennifer's rejection came as somewhat of a shock to family and friends in spite of the distant mother-daughter relationship.

The source said: “Everyone knows that she and Nancy had a horrible relationship.

“She was an absentee daughter and now, even with Nancy gone, it seems that she still doesn't want her mom around.”

The news comes after her mum apparently “cut her daughter out of her will!” – despite the fact the actress paid most of her bills in the years before she died.

Nancy Dow changed the details of her testament about a year ago according again to In Touch Weekly.

She died age 79 in May this year, and left her home, all of her money and personal writings, a lot of which were about her famous daughter, to a relative.

A source told the magazine: “Even though Jen and Nancy had a very strained relationship, Jen still paid almost all of Nancy’s bills in her final years.”

They added she had bequeathed her condo and “more than a million dollars to the family member.”

The source continued: “Nancy wrote down everything about Jen, and that material is now in the hands of someone who could profit from it.”

Her death was announced to People in a statement from Jennifer and her brother, John Mellick: “It is with great sadness that my brother John and I announce the passing of our Mother Nancy Dow.

“She was 79 years old and passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends after enduring a long illness. We ask that our family’s privacy be respected as we grieve our loss.”

The pair fell out in 1996 when she spoke to TV show Hard Copy about her daughter.

Then in 1999, she wrote the booked From Mother and Daughter to Friends: A Memoir.

It was written against the star’s wishes, and their rift widened.

However in 2005 they appeared to have put some of their differences behind them.

The Horrible Bosses star told Good Morning America: “It’s been really nice. It’s crazy what, you know, your life kind of being turned upside down will lead you to. So this is good. It’s baby steps.”

But they did not have much contact until 2011, when Nancy suffered a stroke.

The actress told The Hollywood Reporter last year their relationship was still strained: “Because she was a model, she was gorgeous, stunning.

“I wasn’t. I never was. I honestly still don’t think of myself in that sort of light, which is fine.

“She was also very unforgiving. She would hold grudges that I just found so petty.”
