It’s always difficult when you’ve had a falling out with your nearest and dearest - but for some celebrities these tensions can run even higher, particularly when money matters are involved.
There are some family feuds that even Jeremy Kyle can’t fix and when those times hit there’s really only one answer: the courtroom. Here is our round up of the unfortunate stars that had to resort to suing their parents.
LeAnn took her father to court at the age of just 17 claiming that her parent/former co-manager had taken more than $7 million (£5.3 million) of her earnings.
He father countersued claiming that he was owed money.
Both cases were settled out of court and the pair later reconciled.
When Leighton Meester found out her brother needed financial help to pay for some on-going medical treatment, she reportedly agreed to send her mum around £7,500 per month to cover costs.
The Gossip Girl star later found out that her mother had been using the money for personal expenses including some cosmetic procedures, so sued her in 2011.
The judge ruled in favour of the actress.
Poor Macaulay Culkin was pulled between his parents during a nasty custody battle.
At 15 years old Macaulay’s lawyer filed a motion to remove both parents as legal guardians and allow him to manage his $11 million (£8.4 million) fortune himself.
He won and some reports say that he hasn’t spoken to his parents since.
Modern Family star Ariel Winter was granted emancipation from her mother, Chrisoula Workman, the age of 17 following allegations of abuse.
Granted the writ in 2015, the star's guardianship was given to her sister Shanelle Grey, who was not granted access to the star's earnings.
The star has maintained a close bond with Shanelle ever since, and even praises her on Mother's Days.
Her mum has continued to fight the allegations of verbal and mental abuse placed against her and claims that Ariel, who was 14 at the time the writ was put in place, was unhappy with her for breaking up her relationship with her 18-year-old boyfriend.
Ariel was removed from her mother’s custody and no longer has a relationship with her.
The former O.C. actress was managed by her mother for more than 20 years.
In 2013 she found that her mum had been secretly keeping some of her earnings for herself as well as charging Mischa a management fee.
Mischa filed a lawsuit in 2015 which she reportedly dropped earlier this year.
In 2003 the teen pop sensation filed a lawsuit against his mum, claiming that she stole more than £75,000 from him over the ten years that she managed his music career.
He has since cut contact with his family - including his Backstreet Boy older brother Nick - and has revealed that he feels their relationship cannot be repaired.
Family favourite Gary Coleman shot to fame as a child star on TV show Diff'rent Strokes.
However, suspecting his parents and manager were skimming from his earnings, he later spent four years battling his parents in the courts for what it was owed.
In 1993, a judge ruled in Gary’s favour - awarding him nearly $1.3 million (almost £1 million) and agreeing that the three had taken his money.
If Keeping up with the Kardashians has taught us anything, it’s that the Kardashians are not to be messed with.
A lesson that Ellen Kardashian - Kim, Khloe and Kourtney’s lesser-known step-mother - learnt when she tried to sell their father, Robert Kardashian’s diary pages.
They sued Ellen over the sale and demanded that the personal items be returned to them.
“10yrs after my fathers passing&now that she has filed for bankruptcy… NOW she sells FALSE stories [sic],” Khloe Kardashian tweeted about the scandal.
“You should be hiding in shame for all of the lies you sell to tabloids!!”
