GRIM UP NORTH

Former party boy Nick Grimshaw has moved from radio to TV with a new show – which sees him walking in Northumberland

NICK GRIMSHAW is taking the scenic route as he navigates his post-Radio One career.

I can reveal the former DJ, famous for his all-nighters and being drinking buddies with Kate Moss, is filming a new BBC show with celebrity guests that is all about walking.

Indeed, Grimmy has filmed himself traipsing around the Northumberland countryside for eight hours to give him enough content for the series, which has been given the imaginative working title, Walking With.

He explains: “I had to spend the day in Northumberland and I’ve never been there before, I must have walked for about eight hours and all I had to do was carry a camera on a stick and film myself chatting away.

“It was like a therapy session with myself.”

Each episode will feature a different celebrity, but the show is certainly a huge contrast to his partying days at Radio 1.

Oldham-born Grimmy left the station in August after 14 years, nearly six of which were at the helm of the coveted Breakfast Show.

He was planning to take six months off to “consider my options” but clearly couldn’t turn down a nice long walk in the fresh air, which would have cured some of those epic early-morning hangovers prolonged by being behind a mic.

He’s also revealed his mum Eileen turned down the chance to appear alongside him on Celebrity Gogglebox, in which he regularly stars with niece, Liv.

It is a shame as, according to Grimmy, she sounds great value.

He adds: “She says that she wouldn’t like to be in front of the camera. I take her everywhere with me when I can.

She came to see me DJ at NoMad on Sunday night.

“It was for an afterparty at London Fashion Week and she didn’t get back to mine until 2.30am.

“It’s mad and she is 78.”

They make them tougher up north.

SQUID'S A GORY OF SUCCESS

NETFLIX’S goriest series is about to become its most successful ever.
Korean horror Squid Game, which features more than 450 deaths, will overtake Bridgerton, Lupin and The Witcher as the most-watched.

Currently No1 in the UK Top Ten, the blood-splattered hit features debt-ridden players taking part in games including British Bulldog and What’s The Time Mr Wolf? in a bid to win a £27million cash prize.

It is so brutal that many viewers have been repulsed by the excessive violence and some have demanded Netflix ban under-20s from watching

If they lose or quit, they “die”.

It’s like a super-gruesome version of Total Wipeout that has taken the world by storm.

Production of the K-drama took two years to complete.

It is so brutal that many viewers have been repulsed by the excessive violence and some have demanded Netflix ban under-20s from watching.

But clearly the graphic scenes have captivated millions, which makes a second series inevitable.

'MUFFLED' MATT & NOEL

MONDAY’s episode of The Great British Bake Off wasn’t just a bad night for eliminated contestant Jairzinho.

The sound department also had an uneasy evening as viewers complained hosts Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding had “muffled” speech.

They were probably munching on muffins.

ROMESH RANGANATHAN RETURN

ROMESH Ranganathan returns to BBC2 on Sunday with a fresh instalment of The Ranganation.

Like the last series, his panel will be beamed into the live studio via video link.

Romesh’s focus group will again be made up of members of the public with opinionated views on topical issues  . . .  along with his mum Shanthi.

Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham is one of the celebrity guests joining Romesh in person for the first episode of the new series, which starts at 9pm.

Also appearing will be fellow comic and show regular Jack Dee.

You won’t find a grumpier comedy duo than this in a TV studio all year.

GAMESMASTERS' NEW MASTERS

WHEN GamesMaster returns to E4 later this year it will feature an all-new presenting line-up for the series.

It will be led by Robert Florence, who will also serve as creative consultant on the show, and his co-hosts will be esports and gaming host, Frankie Ward and newcomer Ty Logan.

AMY'S SECRET IS OUT

MARRIED At First Sight star Amy Christophers has told how she was “pressured” into making a sexual fantasy film that’s haunted her for a decade.

The unearthed footage, filmed when she was 23 for paid members from the Babe TV channel, came out as she married stranger Joshua Christie on the E4 show this summer.

Amy said: “I didn’t think it would ever be seen in the public domain.

“For years I’ve had guys randomly DM me links to it and I’ve feared it would be exposed.

“I’ve paid lawyers to have it removed but somehow it always follows me.

“Now it’s out there I almost feel relieved. It’s been like a dirty secret I’ve been keeping for ten years.”

TOM PAIN STUCK IN STATES

TOM ELLIS has revealed the strain of splitting his time between the UK and America after finding telly success in the States.

The actor has had to move to LA since becoming the star of US-based devil comedy-drama Lucifer.

I normally wouldn’t shed many tears for Tom. But I can’t help feeling for the children he has with London-based ex-wife Tamzin Outhwaite.

He told how maintaining a transatlantic relationship with his kids during the pandemic was a nightmare.

On That Gaby Roslin Podcast, Tom said: “It was horrible. I spend a lot of time on planes trying to see my family. Covid made an already tricky situation much more difficult.

"Thankfully I’ve been able to spend lots of time with them recently.”

EXPOSURE'S IN COLD BLOOD EMMY

AN ITV documentary about one of the biggest treatment disasters in NHS history has won the International Emmy for Current Affairs.

In Cold Blood was the fourth film made by the broadcaster’s Exposure strand to have won the award in the past five years.

The feature-length documentary examined the tragedy when thousands of British haemophiliacs were infected and died from HIV and Hepatitis C after being prescribed infected blood products by the NHS.
