While discussing couples who share custody of their pets after they’ve split, the pair hatched a plan to decide who their dog Maggie would chose if they ever called time on their romance.

As Eamonn and Ruth stood on opposite sides of the This Morning set, Maggie was let loose by a member of production, in a bid to see who she ran towards first.

As the pooch flit between the pair, Ruth later announced: “We can’t ever split up because she was very torn.”

Eamonn responded: “Torn between two lovers…. You bribed her with biscuits or something.”
