RUTH Langsford has vowed to never leave husband Eamonn Holmes as it would cause too much distress for their dog Maggie.

The happily married presenter, who wed the Irish star in 2010, dropped the bombshell during a segment in Tuesday’s episode of This Morning involving their pet pooch.

While discussing couples who share custody of their pets after they’ve split, the pair hatched a plan to decide who their dog Maggie would chose if they ever called time on their romance.

As Eamonn and Ruth stood on opposite sides of the This Morning set, Maggie was let loose by a member of production, in a bid to see who she ran towards first.

As the pooch flit between the pair, Ruth later announced: “We can’t ever split up because she was very torn.”

Eamonn responded: “Torn between two lovers…. You bribed her with biscuits or something.”

The test caused much hilarity for viewers at home watching along.

As the indecisive dog ran between the pair, Ruth and Eamonn argued over who actually won the experiment.

An online poll on This Morning’s official Twitter account documented the split views.

41% chose Ruth, 39% decided the dog couldn’t choose and 20% thought Eamonn was the clear winner.

Eamonn and Ruth have been happily married for six years now.

However, the pair began dating long before that - welcoming their son Jack Alexander into the world in 2002.

They adopted Maggie, who lives with them in Surrey, from the Dogs Trust in 2011.
