Chris, 56, revealed to his Twitter following that he had tested positive for the virus and appeared to be suffering from nasty symptoms.

He wrote to fans, who have since liked the post over 20,000 times: "I just found out I have COVID, trust me you don’t want this. Get vaccinated."

Chris' fans immediately headed to the comments section to wish him better, and support his plight to get other people fully jabbed.

" I truly hope you get over this quickly and thank you for being on the right side of science.  The vaccine does save lives," one fan wrote.

Another chimed in: "You are so right about that. It has kicked me hard. I’m better but the cough is still awful and still no taste or smell. I’m fully vaccinated."

The comedian previously revealed he had been vaccinated against the virus during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in May.

He told talkshow host Jimmy that he had received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, saying: "I'm two-shots Rock, that's what they call me."

Chris also told CBS Sunday Morning's Gayle King that he couldn't wait to get the vaccine when it was first approved for public use.

"I'm gonna put it this way — Do I take Tylenol when I get a headache? Yes," the comedian said in defence of the vaccination.

"Do I know what's in Tylenol? I don't know what's in Tylenol. I just know my headache's gone. Do I know what's in a Big Mac, Gayle? No. I just know it's delicious."

Chris was last spotted in New York earlier this month alongside his friend, comedian David Chappelle - as they both went mask free.

The comedian is best known for his stand up shows, including Saturday Night Live, and his TV series Everybody Hates Chris.
