Lewis Hamilton reveals why he split with Nicole Scherzinger
The Formula One ace admitted he treasured his motors more
SEXY Nicole Scherzinger may have the X Factor but her lack of gears and pimped-up bodywork meant she would always “come second” in motor-mad ex Lewis Hamilton’s list of priorities.
The Formula One ace admitted his passion for snazzy cars and super fast speeds had put the former Pussycat Doll in the shade.
Sports star Lewis, who dated the popstar on and off for eight years, revealed he loved his sets of wheels more than her and said: “My cars are my babies.
“I used to say, when I had a girlfriend, ‘I’m taking one of the girls out, so you can come if you want, but you come second when it comes to the cars.”
In the painful aftermath of their second split, beauty Nicole had hinted Lewis had become “complacent”.
Meanwhile Lewis described his victories on-track as proving “a bandage” over his broken heart.
Yet he revealed the sheer importance of motors in his life and has admitted: “I do still enjoy my cars. Sometimes when I get home to Monaco, I take a car out. But I always want to keep the mileage low on all my cars! So I don’t ever really go that far. Particularly in the cars I bought, like the Zonda, which was a serious investment.”
He : “It’s the look, the sound, and I’m always looking for horsepower. Everyone wants bigger horsepower!
“The Chiron does look good, the GT version especially. But I’m more old-school and I like the V12; the Bugatti has two engines bolted together.
“Though it is amazing to drive. But I guess it’s just a personal feeling, taste.
“When you eventually save and buy ‘that car’, or do whatever it is to get ‘that car’ you’ve had your eyes on, it’s the greatest feeling.”
Lewis, 31, and Cats theatre star Nicole, called time on their relationship last February.
Louis has since been seen getting close to pop babe Rita Ora while Nicole dated tennis ace Grigor Dimitrov.
After being reinstated onto this year’s X Factor panel, the cheeky singer took the chance to take a dig at Louis’ performance as a boyfriend as she filmed the show’s Six Chair Challenge.
One contestant, from Northern Ireland, performed a moving rendition of Nicole’s song Run which warns another woman not to give up her love “too fast” to a selfish man who will leave her “with a broken heart”.
The X Factor hopeful told the audience: “This song is about running away from bad things in your life.”
On hearing the lyrics, Simon Cowell suggested that he and Nicole should dedicate the song to her former love.
He said: “Why did this song make me think of Lewis Hamilton? It just came into my head listening to it. Run away, Nicole, run away fast.”
She replied to Simon: “Yes, let’s do that. Let’s dedicate those lyrics and that song to Lewis as well, shall we?”
