The Saturdays star Mollie King pens emotional solo single Back To You about underwear model ex David Gandy
The pair dated for five years before breaking up in January after 'rows' over their future together
FOR a long time they were the most good looking couple in showbiz — the stunning girl band star and underwear supermodel hunk.
MOLLIE KING and DAVID GANDY seemed like the perfect pairing until I revealed in January that their five-year romance had come to an end after rows over their future.
Both have kept silent on the break-up since then — but Mollie is in no mood to hold back any more.
And I wonder what you’re thinking right now, cause I’m going through hell. And I wonder why we’re doing this now, I keep asking myself
THE SATURDAYS star releases her debut solo single on Friday which details a specific part of her love life.
But I can reveal that the song is in fact a TAYLOR SWIFT style diss track attacking her ex David.
The single, called Back To You, is all about the couple’s rocky relationship and is the first time Mollie has revealed her true feelings about the M&S model.
The damning lyrics include: “And I wonder what you’re thinking right now, cause I’m going through hell. And I wonder why we’re doing this now, I keep asking myself.”
She also sings: “Don’t wanna be with nobody, just wanna make it with you. Caught up in all of my feelings, baby, why don’t you feel like I do.”
Speaking about the track for the first time, Mollie admitted that it is about a particularly difficult relationship she went through recently in the public eye.
She told me: “Back To You is a very personal song to me. A lot of my writing inspiration has come from what I’ve been through over the last couple of years.
“The song is about a relationship that you know isn’t working but keep going back to them because you love them.
“It is about a relationship I had that was in the public eye, but I’ve said everything I want to say about it in the lyrics to the song.
“Writing the song was actually a cathartic experience, as it allowed me to say everything I was feeling at that time about the situation.
“When I first started writing songs for my solo record, I was writing Saturdays style bangers, but one day in the studio I decided to write something that was personal to me and how I was really feeling.”
Mollie, who has previously been linked to PRINCE HARRY, cricketer STUART BROAD and boy band star ANDY BROWN, first started dating David in 2011.
Don’t wanna be with nobody, just wanna make it with you. Caught up in all of my feelings, baby, why don’t you feel like I do
The pair had a notoriously on-and-off relationship and split up on several occasions throughout their five years together, during which they both saw other people.
But Mollie finally binned the brief-wearing star over Christmas last year after one final fall out.
After writing this song, she is the one wearing the pants now.
A Perrie good night
AT least PERRIE EDWARDS looks happy when she ventures out – which is more than can be said for her miserable ex ZAYN MALIK.
The LITTLE MIX star couldn’t wipe the smile off her face as she left London club Steam & Rye following a night on the town with bandmate JADE THIRLWALL on Saturday.
The pair had a full hair revamp ahead of their big night out, with Perrie dyeing hers pink while Jade opted for a perm.
Sharing a snap of her beaming face online, Perrie said: “Someone had fun last night.”
Her memory was obviously a little hazy.
I really can’t think why . . .
George back in TV prog-WHAM!
GEORGE MICHAEL’s big comeback is edging ever closer, with a landmark documentary on him and ANDREW RIDGELEY – his partner in Eighties duo WHAM! – set for release in the autumn.
The film will mark 30 years since the boys’ last Wembley gig and George has asked fans for their personal clips, pics and any other visual memorabilia so they can be included in it. An email to fans reads: “Seeking: Rare Wham! and George Michael media.
Andrew Ridgeley and George Michael in 1983
“George Michael is personally reaching out to fans and friends asking for rare Wham! and George Michael footage in all media forms, from 1988 through 1996.”
Requests include shots of concert crowds and fan hysteria, as well as one oddly specific demand which asks for videos of: “George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley backstage, leaving venues, at hotels or in limos.”
I recently told how George, who last appeared on stage in 2012, earned more than £4million in a year without working a single day.
At least his latest project is taking a bit of effort.
Tinie’s eyeing up Hollywood
THERE is nothing small about TINIE TEMPAH’s new career move.
I’ve learned the Brit rapper is eyeing up a career in Hollywood and has already started laying the groundwork.
Tinie spent some time in Los Angeles earlier this month where he hung out with CALVIN HARRIS – and he also squeezed in time for a chat with a talent agency to try to kickstart his acting career.
A source said: “Tinie definitely sees Hollywood in his future.
“He’s elated with the success he’s achieved in music but he is a very ambitious guy and has a ten-year plan to relocate to Hollywood and pursue a movie career.
“He held an informal conversation with a talent agency in LA the other week.
“Tinie reckons he can match up to his mate IDRIS ELBA and is keeping his eye out for the right script.”
Tinie has already said he wants acting lessons, but his only film role so far has been a cameo in the recent hit Absolutely Fabulous movie.
Still, that’s not a bad place to start.
Is it Bieb you’re looking for?
DESPITE being caught skinny-dipping with Aussie model SAHARA RAY last week, JUSTIN BIEBER has stepped up his romance with LIONEL RICHIE’s daughter SOFIA.
They held hands in Tokyo, where he gigged at the weekend. And poor Sofia has already copped it from his fans online.
Defending her, Justin posted: “I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate. If you guys are really fans, you wouldn’t be so mean to people I like.”
An Instagram ban? That’ll teach them.
Suggs’ house of fun
MADNESS are getting on a bit but I was surprised to learn the venue of their latest album launch – a retirement home.
The ska band were grilled about new record Can’t Touch Us Now by the famous Chelsea Pensioners at London’s Royal Hospital.
And within seconds the British war veterans were trying to blag free entry to their Hyde Park show in September.
One asked: “Can you get us any free tickets? And would you mind changing the time from 1am to six in the evening?”
Frontman SUGGS replied: “Definitely. But we’ve already agreed to perform here.”
So in return, the kindly pensioners challenged the band to a game of bowls.
Madness’s new album is out October 2, before they head off on a UK tour in December.
If they don’t let their new mates in the front row they’ll be very disappointed.
