EastEnders spoiler: Trouble for Jay after Honey finds a bag of white power in her flat
The troubled youth’s addition is exposed by Billy Mitchell’s wife
EASTENDERS’ Jay Brown is set to have his drug addiction exposed after Honey Mitchell finds a packet of what is believed to be cocaine in her flat.
In scenes to be aired on the soap a week Monday, Billy Mitchell’s wife is cleaning when she comes across a bag of white powder.
Viewers of the soap have watched Jay, played by Jamie Borthwick, descend into drug addiction in the aftermath of him being placed on the Sex Offenders Register for having a relationship with an underage schoolgirl.
Struggling to find work, he turned to Roxy Mitchell who set him up as a drug dealer but he ended up taking more than he was selling.
His friend Ben Mitchell, played by Harry Reid, has confronted him about his habit and pleaded with him to give it up as has his adoptive father Billy, played by Perry Fenwick.
Borthwick, 22, has starred as Jay since December 2006, and won 'Best Dramatic Performance From a Young Actor or Actress' at the British Soap Awards in 2008.
He recently spoke about his hard-shitting storylines, especially the underage relationship and the subsequent arrest which exiled him from the Mitchell family, except his friend Ben.
Speaking to This Morning back in May, he said the scenes weren’t hard to film and added: “Not really, I have to say. Everyone has approached me...when they're saying about it, they're kind of saying it in a bit of a negative: 'Oh, it must have been hard, I don't like that'.
"For me as an actor, it's great to go in and do, so I'm just looking at it like that, really.
"That's just what the show does so well. To be involved in it was brilliant. I was obviously happy that it was something that everyone was talking about.”
Meanwhile, it was announced today that Samantha Womack is quitting the show and the role of Ronnie Mitchell which she has played for almost a decade.
Samantha, 43, has decided to go after new boss Sean O’Connor offered her an exit storyline.
And sources told how the actress “jumped at the chance” to go out with a bang.
