Ross landed the dream role of Scott Drinkwell, the cousin of Steph's character Sinead, just months before she was sensationally sacked from the show in 2015.

Steph's contract was terminated “following warnings for lateness, attendance and after a final incident in which she turned up to set unfit to work because of alcohol consumption."

Talking exclusively with The Sun Online, Ross tells us: “When she left the show there was a part of me that thought: “Am I still going to be needed?”

“Getting axed did run through my head, I did think it could happen.

“Brian, my boss, had a meeting with me and re-assured me [of my future] and I think I needed that. He said the writers have plenty for me to do once Steph had left.

“A situation that could have been awful for me… I was very lucky and I really appreciate what work did for me. It could have been very different.”

“I think she’s turned everything around and I do hope it continues.”
