Good Morning Vietnam

His role as radio DJ in the 1987 movie arguably launched his career - and this clip shows exactly why.

The infamous line was delivered perfectly and the film showed off his talent for putting on accents and characters seamlessly.

Mrs. Doubtfire

Who could forget his portrayal of this loveable (but ethically-questionable) nanny?

Despite being a creepy concept, Williams delivered a heartwarming performance as Mrs. Doubtfire and the 1993 film remains a family favourite today.

One Hour Photo

While we had grown used to seeing him in loveable roles, this 2002 thriller showed Williams in an entirely different light.

He plays Sy, a lonely photo technician who develops an obsession with a family after years of developing their photographs.

Hook

Williams starred as Peter Pan in Steven Spielberg's 1991 fantasy film Hook, which this week celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Dante Basco, who starred alongside him in the film, opened up about what it was like to work with him on the movie, saying, "[He] really taught me at a young age what it means to be a star, what it means to be a leader on a set. Everything you want Robin Williams to be he delivered in spades.”

Aladdin

He delivered every line as the Genie in 20 different voices over 30 hours to give producers the perfect cut and that it did.

Williams managed to bring the Genie to life in this 1992 Disney classic - a role which was specifically written with him in mind.

Jumanji

The funnyman starred alongside a young Kirsten Dunst in this 1995 novel-adaptation.

He played Alan Parrish in the movie, a man who has been trapped in a board game for almost 30 years.

Sony Pictures Entertainment are set to release a remake of the film next year. But judging by this clip, we don't think it'll have a patch on Williams' portrayal!

Good Will Hunting

In one of the most iconic scenes of this 1997 drama, Williams' character Sean Maguire confronts Matt Damon's character Will Hunting in the park.

After losing out on two Oscar nominations, the comedian finally got the gong for Best Supporting Actor with this superb performance.

The Birdcage

Williams was originally offered the role of Albert Goldman in the 1996 movie, but turned it down on the basis that the part was too similar to that of Mrs. Doubtfire.

He still managed to put on a terrific show as Armand, a role he swiped from Steve Martin, as shown in this clip.

Patch Adams

Williams tugged on our heartstrings as doctor Patch Adams in this 1998 comedy-drama.

While he missed out on a Golden Globe for Best Actor with this film, it managed to earn £156million.

Flubber

In this hilarious movie from 1997, Williams plays Professor Philip Brainard, who creates a curious substance.
